All I can say is wow. This was by far the best night I have ever had in a club. We left Ultra right after Underworld to go home and clean up. Got to Studio A right about midnight. It was near empty when we walked in but as Ultra got out the place filled up quickly.
Dave P from Chromeo was djing, we already missed Riton (could there have been 1 person there?). Anyways, Gui Borrato starts his live set and it was sounding good. Perfect way to officially start the night. As his set went on it got harder and harder and was really slamming. He finished up and Boys Noize came on. This was the third time in three days I had seen him and each time he doesn't disappoint. What a fun, kick ass set. Although at one point one of the speakers caught on fire (!!!!) and the music stopped for about 5 minutes.
Then came Simian Mobile Disco (live). Holy . I have liked Simian but not a huge follower. The live show they put on was one of the most incredible things I have ever seen. They blew me and the entire room away. I'm glad I was able to tell them afterwards as well.
Next up was Erol Alkan and his set pretty much summed up WMC. Nice variety, some "hits" (Body Crash) and some real filthy stuff. Radioslave did his thing to finish out the night and we left about 7:15.
Moby showed up during Simian and was hanging out. He was extremely gracious and talked to everyone. He took pictures, shook hands, discussed music/life/everything and was real cool.
I saw Scumfrog later in the night and also Simian were mingling after their set. This was my first time at Studio A and I really like the venue. It reminds me of a cross between Czar and Masquerade in Tampa. Overall the vibe of the night was superb. Everyone was smiling and having a good time. It was like the culmination of the week exploded in the building. It made my conference after a few crappy days.
