Don't think this was mentioned, but afaik, the scoring system is something along the lines of

50 points for skill
50 points for 'promotability' which is essentially 1 point for each person that comes through on your list.

And i think the place opens at..8?

Format:

After receiving all applications, the Myplace team will allocate 3 up and coming DJs a 1 hour set each, between 9pm-12am every Tuesday. 9 weeks of heats will be held, with a total of 27 DJs having a spin in front of the Myplace crowd and judges.
Each week a winner will be decided (criteria below). This winner will see receive a cash prize (TBA) and progress to one of three Semi-Finals.
Three Djs will again fight it out in each Semi-Final, the respective winners progressing to the Grand Final and receiving a larger Prize.
And finally, the 13th week Granny will be held on Tuesday May 27. A special guest DJ will help the So You Think You Can DJ panel judge the winner, and will later play in the main room.

Grand Prize: A large cash prize and a weekly Myplace residency.

Criteria to register/apply:

Your own belief you can play to the crowd and win your respective heat.

So You Think You Can DJ judging criteria:

DJs will be rated out of 100 points. The DJ awarded most points will win the heat.

10points: Track selection
10points: Technical Skill (ie. Mixing, effects, layering etc.)
10points: Originality
10points: Crowd Response
10points: Performance
50points: Promotability

= Total out of 100.

Judging Panel:

Will include headline and resident DJs, and Myplace/Room promotional teams

quote:
Each DJ will be given 50 entry passes to the night (5 frees, 45 g/list entry) they play. The number collected will be tallied to give a promoting score out of 50. Hence, 50% of their mark will be based on what they do behind the decks, and 50% based around how many people they pull to the club (whether that be because of their music, loyal friends, interest in Myplace, or if they are a good "promoter").

quote:
Basically, the idea behind it is so that no-one can win by being just a good dj and bringing down no people.
If you get 50/50 for the djing part, but bring no people, someone who brings 50 people, but only gets 1/50 for djing still beats you.

Dj competition; no.
Promoter competition; yes.

and on a related note, if you're more interested in listening to trance, the front room of Room will have monthly invite-only trance nights starting next week. msg me for details/guestlist

wow
50% of your mark is based on how many people you bring personally.
thats crazy!!

1 hour set in a club would be mad! as long as you dont get all nervous and it up...i was thinking it would be one of those '15 minute cram as much stuff as you can' jobs

well to me anyway...i think i should have that covered though, just gotta get all the hot girls i serve at chaddy to come along :haha:

lol, so obviously this is just a publicity stunt to make money if it's 50% based on amount of people...

ah well, bit of fun i spose: deffinitly not playing to win :p
funzies all the way!

the guest-list thing should be interesting around here, since half the people not playing will probly be on all our lists :p

on that note: ben, you're coming in on mine, yeah?? :D
Dj_Es-Dva
I wonder if buying all the guestlists to get 50 would be a good idea, then you can get that money back from the grand prize assuming its not monopoly money.
