BBC Dlckhead makes outlandish claim about secret future game, game world says "Huh?"

RJT
So apparently Sony showed some BBC fellow a "secret" title at the GDC last week.

Here's the only part of this story that's relevant:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/technolo...unces_back.html

quote:

So what else was I shown? Well, I was shown a trailer for a game not due out till 2009 but was sworn to absolute secrecy. Apparently, Sony just wanted to give a glimpse of what the console will be capable of.

In fact, the game is such a secret that when I mentioned the game to Phil Harrison last week he was unsure at first whether even to admit the title existed. When I explained I had been shown it under strict Non Disclosure Agreement terms he looked relieved.

I don't mean to be a tease - all I can say is that I was left speechless. If the footage I was shown truly is "in game", as told to me by the Sony PR people, then we could be on the brink of a step change in what games consoles are capable of in terms of story-telling and immersion.

Naturally I love hearing something like this - because, , who doesn't like enthusiasm for upcoming products, right? It also, however, leaves me with one of those "Well - it's just the BBC. This could get disappointing really ing quickly."

So yeah, basically I read the above, my interest was piqued and I rushed over here to post it because let's face it, I've got nothing better to do right now.

:)

Hooray for the future.

I love stuff like this too but yeah, why the BBC?
Wonder what game it was. GOW3, Motor Storm 2, maybe the new ICO game?
I can't wait to see how that one turns out!

He was prolly duped tho, got shown the latest GT5 trailer or something like that. :D

Im gonna be calling BS on this one, or at least its from someone that knows all about gaming. In terms of hardware, the PC is already lightyears ahead of all consoles.

Meh - you never know what aspect of game design they're talking about, not all new innovation in game design relies on the highest system specs.

In general, however, I'll agree - statements like the one you quoted are generally only uttered by people who haven't the foggiest.

Maybe you're sarcastic, hard to tell. I meant God of War 3. Damn acronyms! :D

youre right of course, its just that the way i read the quote (ie the bit about "in game" footage) made it sound hardware important, but perhaps thats just me :)

Whatever man, we both know this fellow is likely off his and doesn't know what the he's talking about.

For all we know he saw a remake of the original Crash Bandicoot for a Nokia N-Gage and thought it was the second coming of Christ.

:p
