random thoughts:
people have been doing more ed up and crazier things than this throughout history.
recent advances in communication and expansive media coverage just brings it to our attention more quickly... shock value plays a big role in our perception of the problem. its a huge problem, yes. but other people are dying from far worse atrocities here and abroad.
i'd rather be shot than beaten with a club or stoned to death.
