I would disagree. Americans are amongst the most cultures I have ever met, and the values Americans have are very much realistic. It was the heart of the feminist movement, and to an extent still is. Kids under 16 can't legally work, etc. Values are a plenty in this country.

Sure, people eat a lot, spend a lot, and waste a lot, but relatively speaking, the U.S. is a damn ethical place. Just because people question religion or spoil their kids does not translate to a lack of values. Sure, there's a tangent from morality here and there. Can't say the U.S. is exemplary in humanitarian actions, but compared to other nations, it really ain't so bad here at all.
