Melodic Minimal?

So, no matter how hard I try, I just can't seem to get into minimal... for the stereotypical reasons I guess, you know the whole "like water dripping through a pipe for 10 minutes" sound... but as someone who was sad to see all his favorite progressive DJs and producers jumping on the bandwagon, I need to just get over it eventually and learn to love it. Part of what makes prog my favorite genre of music is the melody and atmosphere... the lush background noise, heavy reverb, sophisticated drum programming, deep bass, sparkling melodies that fade into the ether.
The minimal songs I've found I really liked are The Field - Over The Ice, John Tejada - The End Of It All, and Solomun & Gebrüder Ton - Tagesschau, and a couple of Gabriel Ananda tracks. Any suggestions? |

| Try Detroit techno. Not exactly minimal...but it maybe more up your alley. |

| Try Monika Kruse's Transitions Guest Mix aired on 06.01.2008. Melodic and minimal. |

That's a completely wrong way to approach music. You shouldn't be forced to like a genre. If it's not your cup of tea, so be it.
Talk about jumping on the bandwagon... |

Check out the whole Diynamic Music catalogue. Plenty of gorgeous melodic stuff there.
Also, some suggestions off the top of my head (not exactly minimal but you get the idea):
Daniel Mehlhart - Kamasutra
Chymera - Arabesque (plus more of his stuff)
DOP - Between The Blues EP (the whole Circus Company label is great)
Superpitcher - Tell Me About It
Kollektiv Turmstrasse - Tristesse
Pawel - Early Bird / Gabriel
Sascha Funke - Mango
Lee Jones - Aria |

| you would really like kompakt record label and michael mayer, superpitcher, supermayer. also martin buttrich has some feel good melodic minimal, check out his "the call up" remix, hunter, and full clip. i prefer the term prog minimal as opposed to neo trance. its like a hybrid of prog house and minimal house. |

And why is it that you try to like something that you don't like? |
