The beauty of it is, you dont have to be in the middle of London..... its easy (though can be expensive) to commute into london.
A lovely area of the outer outskirts of London is 'Hertfordshire' :-) |

well we'd be moving without cars and we'd like to stay without cars if possible. so where ever we lived we'd want subway/train/trolley access to bring us where ever we wanted to be.
thanks for the sites & recommendations guys, i plan to delve into this for the weekend. the move wouldn't happen until she finished her masters and i was happy with what i've accomplished here.
and by all means if someone wants to throw in their two cents go for it! |

Don't worry about this, London is like NYC, no one drives, and if you do it costs a boatload. Charges left, back and forth, parking costs an arm and a leg etc... I live close to the riverside and I find it the best place to be, depending on the budget of course, I reccomend South East close to the river, it's generally ok and it's like 15min. to central London where everything is. Anywhere else you'll need to commute longer. As said check www.gumtree.com it's the best site for finding anything here. |

Live somewhere realatively near a south eastern train station - Look up areas outside the London Fringe e.g. Bromley, Swanley, Orpington, Longfield.
CHEAPEST of cheap houses and flats in Strood / Rochester. You can commute to central London in 35-40mins...and they can be really nice.
