Progressive: '93 [Classic Progressive House]

After my epic house mix went down a lot better than I was expecting, I decided to put together a set of classic progressive house, which I'd been mulling over for a while. Like the last one it's themed around a particular year, this time 1993, hence the title (there's one track from 1994 in there), which was the golden year of the early progressive house scene.

Once again, I'm not sure if people will appreciate it- I'm feeling the pressure a bit! However, I hope you enjoy the music at least, if not how I mixed it. I also managed to get it under 80 minutes this time, so it can fit onto a CD. Enjoy:

Progressive: '93 [Classic Progressive House]
Tracklist:

1. Spooky - Little Bullet (Part 1)
2. Underworld - Dark & Long
3. New Order - Spooky (Magimix)
4. Fluke - Electric Guitar (Humbucker Mix)
5. Spooky - Schmoo (Underworld Remix)
6. Disco Evangelists - De Niro (Spaceflight Remix)
7. Havana - Ethnic Prayer
8. William Orbit - Water From A Vine Leaf (Xylem Flow Remix)
9. Mukka - Burachacca (Apollo 440 Remix)
10. Fade - For All The People (Album Mix)

Yeah, I've been thinking about doing this one for a while, so I already had a fair idea of what to do with it. Trouble is, I've done two rapid fire mixes in 2008 already and now I probably won't do another one all year.

In an arcane and unique manner, using a program called Acoustica MP3 Audio Mixer. I have a proper CD deck setup at home, but I'm at university so I do them with software. It's a program that allows you to manipulate the volume and playback rate of sound files in a basic multi-track interface. I still have to work out and adjust the tempo myself and cue everything, so it's much harder than using something like Mixmeister that does everything for you. The trouble is, there's no EQing- oh how I miss kill switches.

Truth be told, I'm ing terrified about this mix. I wasn't sure how people would react to the epic house one, because it took me a while to listen to it with any "distance" from what I'd just done. This one feels the same, except the tracks are bigger classics I'm ing about with, and there's a bit of expectation on this one. I'm expecting it not to live up to its tracklist, although I hope I'm wrong.
