As far as the munchies and chai, we sell bottled water and the profits from this pay for us to buy fruit from the farmer's market and make chai to serve at 3am or so. Our parties are long with no ins and outs, we like to make sure you have a bite to help make it through the night of dancing. This comes from the influence of the festival scene and the origins of psytrance as Goa in Goa India where chai was a norm. Yes I am a hippie!

Sounds lovely. Wish there are more parties like this. A promoter that cares for their audience instead of record profits is as refreshing as the snacks they serve. This party reminds me of the movie Groove, back when partying wasn't about wearing nice pair of jeans and a money shirt. It was about dancing in bunny suits and gas masks and no one cared or stared. I had a taste of that in the late 90s and I miss it. Best of luck with your party and hope to see more.

there isn't an atmosphere that even comes close to ours here :)

our events ARE NOT rave events...they are very different from the average production.

Hi! I am Blue, another one of the members of ATlPsy that registered just to comment in this thread. Moksa found this forum recently and we added you all to the list of people we advertise upcoming events to.

First off to address your question about breaking even and bringing in out of town DJs and producers. This has not been a issue in the past and we started bringing in out of town talent a year and a half ago. We have booked parties featuring underground US djs from the West Coast and other areas over and over again. I think that speaks to us having a firm grip on our finances as a whole. This will be the second visit by Wichdoktor who was one of our first out of town DJs 2 July's ago.

As far as the crowd and scene in ATL goes psy is different than some of the others genre's it has become rather specialized you might say. We have guests at almost every party that drive from all over the Southeast as well as flyin from NYC occasionaly. The psy scene in America is very tight and very underground, people will travel to see a dj they are into.

You may or may not know that psy is also deeply based in a outdoor festival scene akin to the parties of jambands. Psytrance is a international scene where people travel all over the US and the world to attend weekend and week long festivals featuring nothing but psytrance acts and chill music.

Our scene in ATL is one of the smaller American scenes that have sprung up regionaly around the country in the last 3 years. All of the scenes have been working together and networking as word has spread of this alternative to the usual jam band or club scene.

I came out of the progressive trance scene and I can see that something like a psytrance party to the regular club goer could be scene as flat out weird.

Hope this shed some light on your questions!

Thanks for the clear-up. I know there's a decent Psy scene in Asheville, but I was doubtful of one here. Frankly I like the munchies idea and I'm definitely digging the tea. You have your finances straight... I guess its on!

Carpool?

Yes, we have a history of working with Touch Samadhi and Those People both crews from the Asheville, NC area. The Touch guys have done a great job with helping us out with deco and sound for the chill room. Blue Spectral Monkey and Serena did a long series of parties with custom deco in the chill room for us each time, they recently moved to the Portland area and will be missed. Our crew has several awesome deco artists as well as a full spectrum of psytrance DJ talent. There are bunches of pictures of past events on our tribe site and soon to be on our newly redone website.

Our parties are registration only private events to help keep the vibe strong. If you would like to drink and are 21+ the event is BYOB and we have a professional bartender and free mixers to make it pleasant.

Glad you like the tea and munchies idea, it has become a social center at each of our parties allow us to get to know our community better. Psytrancess makes the best chai tea on the East Coast, it is for sure worth a check out.

Hope to see you out.
peace

well, all jokes aside, if anyone ELSE on this forum IS in fact interested in possibly attending our party then please contact us if our event post is confusing at all.

I'm saying put all that text in flier format, because that big wall of words makes for a hard read to someone who doesn't know you in the first place :p
