Seriously. 99% of rappers can't play an instrument, can't speak remotely properly, can't rhyme without making up words or mispronouncing everything. They don't make up their own sounds, they have producers for that. Rap is the worst modern music and it takes the least amount of talent to succeed at:haha: |
Don't criticize someone who can't speak properly when you can't write properly. At the same time, I don't disagree. :) |

lol, Soulja Boy as a representation of hip-hop. You sir, are either an idiot or a troll.
Try something like this on for size. You'll find there's much more to rap than you think.
Another point that I have to ask is, how can you assert that rappers don't speak correctly? Have you tried to read Shakespeare? You would sound like an absolute retard to the Elizabethans, but you pride yourself on "speaking correctly." Maybe you should take a step back and note that their dialect has a grammar and lexicon that is simply different from yours. |

I'm not a hip hop fan or rap fan, but I listen to it sometimes on the radio when I'm flipping around the channels. The mainstream, top 40 hip hop is pretty bland, but what you hear on an "urban" station is a bit better. Some of the music and beats are pretty interesting, and you have to respect whoever produces this stuff. I've noticed lately, that several hip hop artists use live musicians these days, instead of a DJ.
The vocal part of rap and hip hop is an artform, like it or not. Some are better than others. Not just anyone can "rap". I don't consider rappers musicians though, unless they play an instrument and write their own music.
I honestly don't understand anyone trying to compose trance or EDM without playing an instrument. Without live improvisiation, I don't see how you can write anything interesting or unique. Music theory will only get you so far. Music theory, on paper, is pretty boring and bland, cookie cutter, formulaic. I'm not knocking anyone who's trying to compose that way, but I would encourage learning how to play at least one instrument, preferably piano and keyboard. All of the great Trance and EDM you hear is composed by people that play an instrument, I guarantee you that. |
