Anyone make it?
I jetted by 7h30am or so, was kidna of a bitch that he only went on at 5h15.. The crowd was pretty much warmed up at 4am, but I felt that Yaz just dragged it on.
Decent evenign... although I dont believe how Yaz gets away with spinning popular techno tracks (anthems?).. if we were in Europe, he'd never get away with that. (but anyways, I complain too much about those kinds of things... )
Aria = nice place, thought I was dissapointed with the sound system at first, but later as the room got more crowded there was a marked improvement (or maybe that was due to the sound technician?)
Ok (some more rants), I thought Candy Ravers went extinct like in 1999.. seems like 2-3 people found their old pacifiers and plastic jewelery, oh and what's Montreal's obsession with 'Turbo' shirts... bwahah, saw a bunch of people wearning those. And Biggy man, props for actually getting people to buy Aria shirts and wearing them to your club.. goddamn that is lame (on their part).. (although.. when I'll eventually take a trip to the UK or something, I might sport a Aria (or Turbo) shirt ..)

Clarke was excellent, even though I couldn't stay all night :( Yaz heated the crowd till Clarke took over. The crowd was already going nuts, but it just went thru the roof when Clarke showed us his skills. He never takes a breath, always busy with the mixers and tables, creating sounds and scratches on the fly... Thanks to Vj Many-2 and Vj Cinetik for setting up a cam just above the tables and projecting the live feed on giant screens, you can really appreciate Clarke's work. Also, the screens locations were well chosen this time around giving the room a different feel.
Also I felt a different vibe from the crowd this time around, apart from Aria being packed (in a good way), it was more diversified as a whole. The girls per guy ratio was higher too this time around, and let me tell you they weren't ugly at all. Hope it stays like that ;-)
I also took some pics, not a lot though, which will be posted at some point this week... |

Most employees there wear those shirts, some of them who work at the coat check were making little trips to the main room. Maybe you spotted them...
Also am I wrong by saying that there was some of Sona's crowd that night at Aria?
Sylphin too bad we didn't meet, hope its not your last time at Aria |

dunno Sona's women crowd is moreso dominated by strippers who just got off work, I hadn't been to Aria before so I wouldn't give a fair jugement.
I'll be out partying again at aria for sure.. just need a job first =(
Another thing that I noticed is that Aria is noticable more french than Sona (not that it bothers me, just pointing that out) |
