Thanks to Bal en Blanc and Tracklive for this incredible experience. It's a real gift for a DJ to spend NYE with all of you, something I never take for granted. The sound was awesome, and it makes it all so much easier and fun to play. When you see me dancing in the booth, that's because i'm having fun... and damn it was fun.

I know I am not an easy choice as a DJ cause promoters never know what I will pull out of my hat, so I appreciate them having the balls to put me on and giving the chance to play such a great massive. :-)

Also, big thanks to all those who made extra efforts to come early to hear me play. What a great way to start the year.

To all of you, best wishes for 2008.

Excuse me Markus I have to disagree

LAWLER was the set of the night for me He played some dirty stuff and everyone was eating his build ups, his mixing as always top notch..

He s the only one that delivered

Vibe was good he got the party going

Markus schulz was good in the beginning but then got a little too hard

Sander Van Doorn wasnt my cup of tea.

All in all Great atmospehere a lot of people showed and thanks to tracklive for organising it.

hmmmmmmm

i guess its a subjective thing :)

lawler started off soooo slow... he killed the tempo of the last dj and went back to square one... maybe it's just me..

either way, props to a good production, lighting and sound was spot on

i liked vibes set, especially the last hour

I was brutally sick all day so didn't make it out there til 3:30, the last hour of Vibe was awesome and I was really enjoying myself. I agree with marcus that Lawler started off a bit slow, but he picked it up nicely after about 45 minutes and rocked it for the rest of his set. Schulz was a bit fluffy but he dropped some good tracks, and SVD completely rocked the place -- really loved his set and was amazed to see the dancefloor so rocking at such an hour. Wizz closed things out nicely after SVD; it's not easy to close for a set as banging as SVD's but he did that NP and kept the place pretty fully right up until noon.

This was my first montreal massive and it was a great one. Production value was quite good, the vibe was pretty good too. Was definitely amusing to see some of the sketchbags out there and sluttily dressed laval girls. Great party overall even sober!

can"t wait to see the vid and party report tracklist of Markus Schulz!!!

cheers :)

Ok ummm

TRANCE >>>>>>> (MTL HOUSE)(I just don't get what people get out of it)

Well DJ VIBE was good, Lawler put me to sleep, I actually napped in the stands for 1/2 of his set.

SCHULZ on the other hand gets an A+ from me, amazing set, to be sober at 7 am and to dance through his whole set while trying to leave and always coming back down to the dance floor says something.

Overall good party, but I think the next Bal En Blanc will school this one.

P.S. Would like to send out a shut out to Malek for hooking up those last minute sales, thanks bru, man without I'd prolly end up chocking some ppl...lol

I'm writing this on 15 min sleep and depleted seratonin :p

'Arrived at 10PM, mainly to catch Creator's set. The place was very empty, much like Sensation, unlike last year's Tiesto bill where it was jammed very early even. Wow, now they are asking you to remove your belt at the security check? :nervous:

Creator's set was smooth and he didn't deviate much from his last set he posted here, which was great to hear.. very industrial minimal sounding set, at times sinister sounding :p

I heard him drop Tiger Stripes - Mad at Me and I was hoping he'd follow it up with 3 Channels - Incoming, just like the TA set but maybe he dropped it earlier? Sir, maybe you can confirm that..

I still think Creator should have closed this massive but he nonetheless did a great job setting up the night.

Fabi's set was a bit of everything, some diva house, some minimal, some big 'mainstream' hits remixed and he was particularly popular with the n00bs we brought. I thought he was alright but Mr Grondin brought it to another level. By then the Bell Centre was jammed packed.

It was great to hear his tribal, diva, prog set at the Bell Centre. He really had the crowd moving throughout the entire set, imo.

Vibe's set had some gems too, and also lots of minimal. It wasn't on par with Grodin's but was better than the next guy...

Was it me or did Steve Lawler's 2.5 hour set seemed like just three tracks? I thought I heard him drop Tiger Stripes - Mad at Me as well but the track selection was very off, I thought. I think it was that Dubfire track, Ribcage? .. it seemed to go on forever. And I actually yawned for the first time on a dancefloor, when he ended his set with Sweet Dreams - Eurythmics, the entire original track. I wouldn't mind hearing that classic in a 5+ hour set but it was odd to hear it otherwise.

Markus Schulz set was very very good, though I didn't hear that much trance, more housey than anything else. It brought the crowd's groove back, in any case. I left halfway through his set.

Music: 8/10
Vibe: 9/10
Organisation: 7/10 (bit overcrowded again and concession stands were very limited, no fluid replacement drinks, etc). Ratio was also 3:1, Sensation and Bal seemed to be better for quantity of eye candy :p

And that's it.

PS: the MC really gave it a cheesy feel at times.. he needs to be replaced :)

Actually Mad at Me is the only track I played from my last online set, the rest was all new stuff. I tried to stay away from any track Lawler may play that I know of. And 3 Channels - Incoming is on is Viva London Cd so... ;-) glad you liked it

yeah, I'm sure he dropped it too. Guess which set I though was way better? ;)

Great job you did.
