Ok, I don't get out much, but I come on here fairly often and browse about. I have a few contacts out there, and I chat with them once inawhile, and I get from them interest in playing here (the DJs), but they have no idea who to contact, or who to have their agents contact, and neither do I, and I live here (but as I said I don't get out much, and I don't smooge with any groups because I'm not involved enough to make it worth my while to get stuck in the political war that goes on in this city).
I know Arpy, vaguely, I remember he used to help host Vivid Sessions. I believe he's moved on to newer projects, but I don't get a lot of house or progressive contacts to send his way.
The only other groups I've had contact with are Twisted (and they never reply to me) and Silverwaters (they focus more on R&B, HipHop).
That's about it. I could nit pick through the postings and threads on here to glean more, but I thought this might be easier, rather then spending more of my time trying to contact promotional groups that really don't care to or have the time to spend reading anything I send their way.
I realize promo groups have a lot on their plates, they're quite busy, they have other considerations (expenses, if they can cover costs vs the name, the crowd they can potentially attract, venues, etc etc etc I mean I have no REAL clue the amount of planning and consideration that goes into these events, of any magnitude from a small Canadian DJ brought in to internationally renown figures in the scene), and I don't pretend I'm some big shot with a huge list of contacts (far from it), but I would like to think that on occasion I can potentially bring to a promoter's eye a name that they might not have known or thought about that's interested in coming here and to help both parties out that way. As for me, I'd take out of this just the simple pleasure in helping to bring DJs, whether or not they're someone I'd personally go see or enjoy, to this city for others (and/or myself) to enjoy! |
