There was a pretty good turn-out, although I didn't recognize any TA's.

You'll never believe the night I had -- it was an adventure to say the least. A couple days before the event, I found out that Scott Cannon had to cancel. Then, there were some rumors that Brett Mauro wanted to drink and party rather than spin. After all, he was already performing at Fever earlier that night. (He might have DJ'ed downstairs for a bit, but I'm not sure to be honest.) So, it was looking like it was just going to be me and Jay Luu the whole night. I went on at 8:00 and did played for about an hour-and-a-half before switching off with Jay for a bit. No sooner had Jay thrown in his first track than he received a frantic phone call from his wife who was on the way to the hospital. She's about seven months pregnant and was having complications. Fortunately, she is doing OK and was released from the hospital this morning. But, of course, Jay had to leave -- family comes first you know. So, I performed my longest set to date -- 7 hours!

It was a challenge, but I had a blast. People were really digging the set and were giving me great feedback all night. I had a bunch of folks asking me for business cards and demo CD's. People were dancing their asses off. As it got later in the night, more and more people actually came up from the main room downstairs, which was really cool.

Luckily, my friend Javier who was there is also a DJ and offered to mix in a few tracks so I could take a break. (Thanks dude! You got a little more than you bargained for that night.) I also threw in that 25-minute version of John Digweed's "Gridlock" at one point so I could do the social thing for at least a little bit. One of the bartenders in the VIP lounge named Brandon was super cool and kept the drinks coming all night.

During the brief time that I was able to walk around and talk to folks, I was really glad to meet a lot of people who are really into house music. I wasn't sure what the crowd was going to be like at this event, but everyone I met was really friendly and having a great time.

Best of all, since I did the work of four DJ's, I am being compensated accordingly. And since I donate all of my earnings to a charity run by a good friend of mine, I'm stoked that I'll be able to give them more than I expected. :) :) :)

With that said, the owner/operator of Luckie Lounge might also be offering me a residency starting this weekend! I'm supposed to work out the details tomorrow. Mike from VIP Nightlife also told me that he wants me to start performing at some of their events.

What a night indeed. My ears are still ringing. Luckie is an awesome venue and there was a great crowd. There was a photographer taking pictures all night, so I'll have to post some of them when I get them.
