hey guys, just want to flash this pair of CDJs at a club im playing regularly. they're running 1.4, which is the first version. i know 2.2 has been out for a while, but the US Pio site only has an ORDER link for the firmware, whereas the european site has a download link and instructions.
can i use the EU firmware with no problems? does anyone know why Pio has an ORDER link in the US site? thanks. |

I think the 'order' link is just so you can get a nice shiny CD with the firmware on it directly from Pioneer.
I requested a copy for CDJ-800 a while back and that's what I got in the mail. I would presume the firmware is the same (US and EU versions), but this should be checked. Unfortunately, I don't have the firmware CD with me, so I can't check that. The CD did come with instructions printed in about 10 different languages, but that may or may not be an adequate basis to say that the firmwares are the same. |

Upgrade.
If they up I'll pay for them myself.
There's no way in the world that firmware is region specific on a CD drive.
I'd bet my life on it. And yours. And the life of your CDJ1000s. |

well... fine. im flashing them right before playing. hah.
but seriously... i mean, i was blaming myself, for the last few days, ive been practicing on those decks, and couldn't get a damn mix right. i've used CDJ1000Mk3's a lot lately, so this was weird. when i thought of firmware, i thought it can't be that determining to my mixing, or that the old firmware is a piece of crap and the CDJ doesn't work right with it.
yesterday, played for an hour on them, by myself. not a single good mix. went to a friends, he has 1000Mk3s as well, with updated firmware. mixed smooth as silk. back to these an hour later, ed up mixing. played a radioshow an hour ago on my friend's Mk3's, smooth as silk again.
i'm flashing these mofos. |

Don't forget that acoustics can be to blame for off mixing. I'm particularly sensitive to it.
I did hear that a lot of "pro" DJs refused to mix on CDJ1000Mk3 machines with the latest firmware just after it was released - presumably because of the big difference in behaviour.
Beware, you may get punched in the face by a resident DJ if you upgrade the firmware, you cannot go back once you've upgraded! |
