Promise at the Cavalcade of Lights
Nathan Philip’s Square, 6pm til 10pm
The City’s festivities at the Nathan Philip Square skating rink are really inventive this year, with djs, bands, fireworks, etc. all winter and we are proud to be part of the festivities. We will be hosting a number of skating events this year and this one is sweet because it falls in the season before Christmas.
The rink is absolutely huge and the weather has been good for making ice, so the conditions should be great. Bundle up, bring a Thermos and someone’s hand to hold, and get warmed up for whatever Saturday holds later – we’ll send out details soon about other events happening that night.
This night coincides with the local Burning Man group’s annual Santarchy, where a jolly group of people dress up as Santa Claus and go from the Eaton’s Centre through Nathan Philip’s square and on down Queen St for a pub crawl. It will be fun to see 100 skating Santas.
Our djs will be interspersed along with 2 fun new Canadian bands. The Golden Dogs are energetic, slightly punky and ska-informed pop-rock, and In-Flight Safety have a sweet melodic moodiness to their melodies and nice sounding guitar work.
Promise djs
Ted Danson, 6 – 7 funky disco
Rollin Cash, 7:45 – 8:15 breakbeats and scratch
Nick and Pierre 9 – 10 pm deep funk

The city has taken us on for the first time this year to host Nathan Philips Square, so it's a great opportunity for all of us. Hope to see you there. |
