Blowing snow warning for
Barrie - Collingwood - Hillsdale continued

..Blowing snow over grey and Bruce counties this afternoon and over remaining regions by evening..

The threat for very strong winds has abated over much of southern Ontario..Although wind gusts to 70 km/h will are still expected early this evening. The exception is the area near eastern Lake Erie where Port Colborne continues to report gusts in excess of 90 km/h. The winds are forecast to abate there this evening.

Meanwhile a blowing snow warning remains in effect for many locales to the southeast of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. Flurries at times heavy are now moving onshore into the above regions. Combined with the brisk winds and temperatures which have fallen below the freezing mark - considerable blowing snow is expected - with whiteout conditions in some places.

Conditions will rapidly improve overnight as the winds diminish and the flurries taper off.

HOLY ! Just came back to work from Starbucks... roads = CRAZY slippy w/ this soft wet snowfall!!

Worst the roads have been up here yet!

Already several f*cking BAD vehicle accidents leading to 3 deaths so far from these ZERO visibility whiteouts and all the intense blowing snow! (Thought none have been in Collingwood... but around the Orangeville/Aurora areas I think... and on/around the 400)

I can COMPLETELY see it!

Here's an example, IMO, of when a weather warming is justified and necessary!!

All the major hwys around here have been shutdown!

hwy 24, hwy 10, hwy 90.

I think hwy 26 east and west is still open....

Man, what an afternoon/night! :nervous:
