A friend and myself are heading down to Europe for 3 months. We land in London on May 8th! Anyone wanna show us around? Anything? Suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would, but London is 300 miles away. I'm sure the other UKTA's will show you around their areas.
Obviously the big raves you want to aim for are:
Homelands: very start of June, lineup doesn't look that good. A few big name DJs like Sasha, Carl Cox, John Digweed, Jeff Mills, Seb Fontaine, Tiesto, Fergie, Sander Kleinenberg, Judge Jules...You get the idea. For the full lineup check Homelands.co.uk
Gatecrasher Summer Sound System: Late June. One of our biggest raves. Absolutely EVERYONE will be here. Much better lineup than Homelands. The rest of the world will be residents night that night ;) Check Gatecrasher.com for the lineup.
Godskitchen Global Gathering: Late August. same as above. Bloody everyone will be there. Check Godskitchen.com for the lineup.
Creamfields Early September. Not as good as the above two, but about the same capacity. The lineup will be better than Homelands, but now much. Full lineup here: http://www.uk-cl.com/Creamfields_UK_Lineup.html
Those accomodate about 40-50,000 people each, and are on all day and night.
We MIGHT have our own Love Parade this year, which will be a bit different to those. The above are big--off raves on huge fields. The Love Parade is thousands and thousands of people cramming into a city as dozens of trucks drive through blasting music all day long.
We have other raves too, like Glastonbury, which is 3 days long. But that's mostly rock music. We have smaller festivals in the summer too, but there's too many to list.
If you want to find events like the NEC, keep checking these boards. Will you have internet access when you come over, cos that would come in very handy for organising what to do. Pretty much any major event that's worth going to will be discussed on here. Alternatively, check the sites below regularly to see what's worth going to.
London should have free magazines available which show what's going on in the local clubs. Every city does. Newcastle has a free music magazine called "The Crack" which shows who's playing when and where every month. Oi Londoners, what's your one called?
Here's some sites for the main dance music organisers in the UK:
Promise (based in Newcastle, far North East England)
Slinky (Based in Bournemouth I think, middle/south of England, if my Geography is right!)
Godskitchen (based in Birmingham, southern England)
Gatecrasher (based in Sheffield, middle to Northern England)
Cream (based in Liverpool middle to northern England, on the east coast) |
