BITCHSLAP!
Never Mind the Mainstream at Footwork, Friday, November 23rd.

TORONTO -- Friday, November 23rd, join the Bitchslap! family at Footwork for a very special installment of the special event series: Sydney Blu’s Birthday Soirée! We’re pulling out all the stops for a full-on night of birthday action featuring Bitchslap! resident DJs Sydney Blu and TK, alongside Exacta returning for another dose of his electrifying NYC beats, plus we have an extra-special live performance from homegrown EDM darling, Mandy J.

Taking his name by predicting the finish of horse races in ‘exacta’ bets, DJ Exacta started out as a hip-hop DJ from Queens, gracing the turntables for celebrities such as Mariah Carey, Heidi Klum and P Diddy. It wasn’t long before Exacta went from hip-hop to house, quickly gaining notoriety and emerging as one of the most talked about house DJs, playing alongside the likes of Erick Morillo, Pete Tong, Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold and Armand Van Helden. His success has taken him all over the world, spinning everywhere from his Pacha (NYC) residency, to Godskitchen (UK) to Crobar (Miami) and Fly (Toronto), showcasing a sublime selection of upfront house that spans everything from deep to tribal to tech cuts in breathtaking and daring sets.
In summer 2006, Roger Sanchez broke Exacta's vocal remake of the classic ‘Pride (A Deeper Love)’ in his Essential Mix, followed up by releases of ‘Set Me Free’ and ‘You Keep Calling Me’. Since, Exacta has been sought out for his remix work by superstars such as Nelly Furtado and Madonna.

Exacta’s two latest offerings, ’Stuck on Your Love’ and ‘Do What I Wanna Do’ demolished the Winter Music Conference 2007 and are currently being hammered by the likes of Erick Morillo and David Guetta. Due to this success, Exacta plans to release his first solo album, ‘Soul Survivor’, in October, 2007 on his very own Double Frequency Records. Sydney Blu is Canada's foremost female DJ and a co-creator of Bitchslap!. She performs regularly all over North America and Mexico. With production partner Fabio Palermo, she has remixed for numerous labels including Hibias Records, PBR Recordings, Robeter Productions, COF Music, and Rawthentic Music to name a few. Their latest offering, a remix of the new club banger “L.O.V.E. Machine” released on Double Frequency Records, is out now and enjoying airplay worldwide. She has also collaborated on signature bootleg remixes and a number of original tracks (also co-written by Toronto vocalist Mandy J and lined up for international release). In 2007 she will release her highly anticipated full length artist album on Hibias Records, with a tour to follow. [http://www.sydneyblu.com]

DJTK, a long-time favourite of Toronto's gay community (both Fab Magazine and Xtra! Magazine’s readership voted her their favourite local DJ in 2005), has become a fixture in the city’s afterhours scene, with residencies at Footwork and The Comfort Zone. An accomplished film music producer, 2007 saw TK producing original music for documentary films: "The Metroscope" (a project of the National Film Board) , as well as more EDM (electronic dance music) production. With countless shady remixes and original beats being turned out to clubbers' delight, TK looks forward to a digital releases becoming available this fall. She is also a regular contributor to Scenester Magazine. [http://www.djtk.net]

Mandy J is a singer, songwriter, and wicked free-stylist, known for her ability to grab the mic in any club and throw down lyrics that flow as though written years ago. She has lent her amazing voice and writing talents to numerous producers and DJs including the 2005 Juno Award nominated "Ghetto Love" collaboration with Hatiras and "Love for the Weekend" with DJ Dan on Blow Media.

Since opening its doors in May of 2005, Footwork has earned a reputation for delivering quality parties, covering every genre of the electronic dance scene. In just a short time, Footwork has carved its niche and filled the void of intimate nightclubs in Toronto. Nestled conveniently between Toronto’s commercial club district and the thriving King West community, it’s a unique environment offering the best of the underground.

Bitchslap! is a special underground dance event series in Toronto for forward thinking music lovers. Now in its third year, Bitchslap! has blossomed into a fabulous city-wide event series.
