BIO by Jim McKenna:
For the last nine years, Davin Greenwell, better known as DJ ariz0na or producer AFK, has been pushing the progressive sound in the form of breaks, house and trance. Davin has been heavily involved in the West Coast electronic music scene through many years of community and FM radio, club and events promotion, and now most prominently with Pacific Front Recordings (PFR), a new music label he trail blazes in cahoots with Justin Humber, aka Formulate.
Recording as AFK has seen Davin release several gigantic progressive tracks on his home label, PFR, and has produced a gritty electro breakbeat remix of c79's "Dope Ride" and a synapse-smashing remix of Micah's progressive house odyssey, "Capable Space." His collaboration with Anand Greenwell, Tiebreaker, has been very well received, as well as his collaborations with Dustin H. Davin has been remixed by names such as Steve May, Dumb Dan, Jacob Todd, Dustin H, Jarius Miller, Fractal, Blake Jarrell, Matt Rowan, Jeff Devas, Influenza, Micah, Formulate, Jaytech, and c79. In addition to the Pacific Front releases, he has music released on the tremendously popular Proton Music, done remix work for the Los Angeles label Ritual Sounds, and a release out on Inaspace Recordings UK under the guise of Royal Assassin with Thor Kell, also known as Fractal - TidePool's deepest puddle. 2007 will see the follow-up to that tune on Pacific Front with remixes from the Desert Dwellers and Dustin H. Expect big things. Davin's music has extended globally and can be heard in forward-thinking clubs all over the world with support from DJ's like Sasha and John Digweed, Armin Van Buuren, Dale Anderson, Anthony Pappa, Luke Chable and Shiloh.
No stranger to Proton Radio, Davin's most recent appearance there is on his on his show called Pacific Front Sessions, which he hosts with Justin Humber and airs monthly. With nods to progressive's huge past, Davin and Justin capture the excitement and the essence of the scene today, giving a rare but powerful glimpse of the greater things to come. Toss in a Saturday night residency at Victoria's outstandingly fun Lush at Hush, mix in appearances at various clubs in Vancouver, and you have a talent echoing throughout the scene in the Pacific Northwest.
Enjoy~! |
