Hey, Rio is dangerous like any big city in Brazil!
You just have to take some care, and don't show any eletronic stuff like digital cameras, cell phones or get in the streets using gold necklaces, anything that can call some atencion of anyone. It's simple.
In carnival here in Rio you can go to the Sambodromo and watch the famous Samba's Schools...But i recomend you to know the street carnival of Rio, there you will find all citizens of Rio havin fun and brazilian chicks. ;)
sorry my english, i hope you understood.:tongue2 |

If you go to northern Brazil, the weather will be good (summer), now Rio does get cold and the more you go to the south, the colder it gets (obviously). So deciding when to come depends on where you want to travael to....
Hot women you ll see in southern Brasil (Florianopolis and surrounding beaches) and here in Rio, specially in Buzios during the summer months.
No trains available down here...you ll need to take a plane, or sit in the bus for 48 hrs to get from Rio do Salvador.
When you say festivals, do you mean EDM related?

Thanks for the tips. I've talked to my friend and it looks like we'll probably go in Oct-Dec, so it should definitely be poppin' on the beaches.
I don't care if we go to an EDM event. Just give me an idea of when and where some parties might be occurring when we go down there.
And I'll be sure to avoid wearing or showing any ostentatious articles of clothing, jewelry or electronic gear. |

Hi mate.
Do not take these 'negativity' too serious. Rio de Janeiro is dangerous and risky but not to the point where you can't visit there.
I've just been there once for a free Tiesto gig at the Copacabana beach, but from what I hear it's more dangerous near by the 'favelas'. So be sure not to get lost far from downtown there.
By the way... I'm a Trance/Progressive DJ who lives in Sao Paulo state and have experienced life in Sao Paulo capital during 5 years.... so if u get any questions about Sao Paulo or other places, contact me!!
Cheers!!!
