You dont care about beatmatching because you're not a DJ and you don't realise how ing simple it is. The reason the "wannabe DJ's" as you call them do critique is because they actually can and do beatmatch and put effort into their mixing.
Newsflash: DJ's play other people's music. Theres nothing to learn other than when to press play. Peter Hook can rock a dance floor playing a pre-recorded CD and doing the jesus pose, does that make him rellevant to anything? No, it doesn't.
If only you knew how thin the line between "wannabe" and "pro dj" really was... |
i dont dj? ok. of course beatmatching is important, but just about every dork wannabe dj on the internet, thats you, rjt, rebel9 and you others that talk on this forum EVERY SINGLE DAY OF YOUR LIFE, are grrrreat at making seamless mixes. however they're also boring/chill as and dont make you dance, they just make you zone out. you focus so much on beatmatching you forget to be a dj. hell you guys mix better than sasha or paul van dyk. great you've mastered that smmmmmall smalll aspect of this type of dj'ing (not all dj'ing involves beatmatching), now move on to other more important things, like finding good music that most people want to hear and can get into, being a dj means more than beatmatching a bunch of "tracks" that you find on the internet that YOU are into.
this DT rant is on 2 other forums, and on those forums they both say he's overreacting, he's a crybaby etc, but they also say he's still and always has been a great dj. but leave it to tranceforums for me to come here and see the same topic with the same reactions but with the difference is people saying he sucks as a dj. that's just pathetic and immature when it comes from people that post boring dj sets so yea i am going to call you out on it. |

So because you don't like it, we're automatically bad DJ's?
:conf:
Welp, better cancel my bookings for the fall - had I known that no-one wanted to hear it, I'd have never taken them in the first place. :) |

Promo sets aren't necessarily sets that rock the dance floor. A DJ might have made the set geared towards more chilled out setting.
As for this DT set, I had to adjust the volume on my mp3 player many times because the levels were terrible, beatmatching was sloppy at times and track selection was ok, but nothing spectacular. Not to mention his 'tricks' sounded mostly off and made the set sound awkward in general.
That's just my opinion. If you like trainwrecks in mixing, hey, good for you. Might as well just hire a monkey to put in cds because for most people, occassional slip ups in transitions is acceptable, but really noticeable ones multiple times is just sloppy.
A good mixing without a good track selection is worth nothing I agree, but most of us hold a PROFESSIONAL DJ to a minimum standard of technical skills, which generally incl. consistent mixing. |
