DJ Lucha Libre (Mexico): Originally from Mexico, DJ Lucha Libre started out as a sound technician working at various local wrestling events and playing wrestlers entrance music. This however could not quench his thirst to play music, so under the name "DJ Santo" he then began DJing at house and underground parties. As legend has it, one nite while DJing, one of the wrestlers stuck a mask on DJ Santo's head and called him "DJ Lucha Libre". The mask remained on for the rest of his set and a legend was born. Before to long "DJ Lucha Libre" was playing at some of Mexico's wildest underground parties and sending crowds crazy. It is DJ Lucha Libre's unique blend of house, electro and trance combined with his signature of dropping wrestlers entrance music into his sets, plus the occasional Latin and salsa sample, that make him one of a kind and an act not to be missed. DJ Lucha Libre now comes to Melbourne to play his first ever Australian set at Toons Alive – The Psycho Circus.
Statik pulse (New Zealand): Statik Pulse, aka Koil, first started DJing when he was based in Tokyo, Japan. Statik Pulse used to be the name of his live-to-air industrial radio show on Up 107.5FM. Which was broadcast over the airwaves in Auckland, NZ and streamed live around the world for a year. Now in Melbourne, Australia, Koil has made it his new DJ name as he bangs out heavy, dark and stompy tunes. Specializing in industrial dancefloor (cyber-industrial, tbm, emb, industrial techno, darkcore & Gabba), the vast difference in tempo and rhythm make for an interesting beat mixing challenge yet he still has the dance floor rocking every time. Statik Pulse represent the Death Elektro label and has played in clubs around the world (NZ, AUS, JPN, USA) alongside many very talented, innovative and dedicated DJs and musicians. He loves to throw in exclusive and unreleased tracks he receives from them. Statik Pulse takes pride in playing something other DJs can't copy or imitate as In addition to superior track selection and surgically precise beat mixing skillz, Statik Pulse also adds completely exclusive tracks, remixes and custom audio edits into his sets to make them something really special.
Lukky Phill (South africa): Lukky Phill presents you with crisp, uplifting hard Psy melodies. Born in `79, in Johannesburg, South Africa, Phill moved to London when he was 18 and started spinning UK hardhouse the moment he arrived. By 2000 his sound transformed to UK/Belgium melodic trance with influential inspiration of Phil Reynolds and M.I.K.E aka Push. He played his first gig @ FevaH DJ Comp and reached Top10. Soon after that residencies at Pickle & Just One More Squats Parties fell in his palms. In 2001 Lukky Phill moved to Melbourne where the "melodic" went HARD. Religiously vinyl shopping and club hopping his sound developed much harder, but at all times maintaining a substantial melodic energy. Returning to South Africa in 2003, clubs and vinyl stores with hardtrance were absent, Phil's interest shifted towards Psytrance. Farm doof's every weekend on the South-African east coast and a big international influence from all over the world educated Lukky Phill with psychedelic sounds. He delivered sets @ Phoenix, Dreamscape and Vortex whilst over there. Lukky Phill now returns to bring you his first Australian psytrance set at Toons Alive so strap yourselves for a memorable sound.
!Warning! - live: In early 2005 after many drunken nights in Sono Sound Design Studios, Steve Black teamed up with friend and fellow dj, Elysium to begin work on a project suitably titled !WARNING!. The background behind this is simple; there are no boundaries and no set structure! ANYTHING GOES! Their reputation precedes them with their totally original live sets that are like no other world wide! The !Warning! sound is very diverse and is very hard to categorise. It fluctuates between schranz techno, acid and even tech-trance. !Warning! have dominated the Australian rave scene over the past year being the most booked fully live act for years, proving to be one of the most successful exports for this great land and subsequently setting a new standard for live techno in the country! You might know of them from their countless rmxs that are wanted by some of the biggest dj's in the world. They include the huge rmxs of Metallica – Enter Sandman, Marilyn Manson – Beautiful People, Motley Crue – Dr feelgood, Madonna – Like a prayer and who could forget the MASSIVE rmxs of East 17 - Alright and House of Love.
Once again the toons & tunes will come alive as Saturday 15th September 2007 marks TOONS ALIVE's 1st birthday! As you enter the psycho circus you step into a world full of mad music, crazy clowns and cartoon mayhem. A world full of wonder and wacky dreams where reality gets torn at the seams. You are now in the toons alive realm and at the psycho circus, anything is possible!
