THERE'S A CHANGE OF LOCATION DETAILED BELOW - STILL AT THE BEACH BUT IN AN DIFFERENT AREA. HELP SPREAD THE WORD - THANKS!
this sunday August 19th
promise cherry beach sunday afternoon soundsystem
It’s an interesting weekend for us. Irving’s got his high school
reunion, and David is off in Thunder Bay helping with the rigging for a performance up there by Eli and friends of the Zero Gravity Circus. David flies back in time for sunday afternoon.
This sunday we team up with good friends Farbsie and the Make It Funky breaks crew. They’re helping out all round with the afternoon and contributing some stellar djs that span the break beat genre from funky to dubby to tech-y to slow burn. Also joining us will be Anne McCullough (AMtrak) from Vancouver, and Katie’s new favourite band Famous Lovers from Montreal in the midst of a east country tour.
Steve Lloyd - deep house
Farbsie and Sunpredictable - beach party funk
Famous Lovers - live from Montreal
AMtrak - techno and house from BC
Robb G - tech-y break beats
sunset surprise guest
Big League Chu - slow burn funk
3 to 11pm
CHANGE OF LOCATION!
Cherry Beach is just along Lakeshore past Parliament. Turn down Cherry Street and follow it to the end. At the roundabout go left - NOW HERE'S THE CHANGE - at the end of the east parking lot follow the bike path corridor through the fenced off area to the other side, then cut through the trees down to the lake. We're on the beach by the water beside the windsurfing club.
Biking to Cherry Beach is easy along the paths beside the lake, a bus
route from Union Station goes down there too.
Things to think about : Please bring only what you plan to take back out with you - leave no trace. Pack something warm (it gets cool after dark by the lake) and something to sit on and also something to keep sun off your head. Drink lots of water. Bring something to share.
And remember to take care of your friends, your neighbours, and what's going on around you. It's what makes afternoons at Cherry Beach happen smoothly.
Donations
Thanks everyone for your help with Cherry Beach. It’s been tight
