Details: It's time to milk that last bit of summer with a mixed bag of beats courtesy of DigitalX. Join us at Toi Bar as DigitalX residents Kol & Xavier bring the beats, alongside one of Toronto's pre-eminent beat-boxers, Poizunus, and the drum and bass prodigy, N_zyme. As a special treat, magician Ian Scheway will be demonstrating his mind-blowing illusions for those in attendance. ARTIST PROFILES
KOL
The moment KOL saw Carl Cox and The Advent perform live at an outdoor rave on the island of Malta, he knew this was something he wanted to do. Keeping djing more of a hobby for the past few years, as of late he has been part of the DigitalX team in providing ear candy for the people on the club scene! His influences range from Carl Cox, John Digweed, Sasha, Max Graham, Sander K,Hernan Cattaneo, and Deep Dish. His sets are full of energy, classic remixes, and big smiles.
XAVIER
As an accomplished percussionist, Xavier is all about quality well produced electronic music. Founder of DigitalX, Xavier has been djing in Toronto over the past 5 years, although under the radar. Upon his return from Europe in 2005, he teamed up with KOL to create DigitalX Productions, a company that’s sole purpose is to showcase different musical genres and art forms under one roof. His musical influences span from jazz to alternative rock and include the likes of Guns “N” Roses, CAKE, Paul Van Dyk, Max Graham, Signum, Sander Van Doorn, Valentino K and Lemon 8. His sets are full of rolling baselines, sweet vocals and the occasional breaks track just to keep you guessing.
POIZUNUS
Poizunus has been featured in two MuchVibe commercials and also freestyled on MTV Live with World Record Freestyle Champ D.O. He recently took 1stplace at the 604 Hip Hop Expo Beatbox Battle in Vancouver and Scribble Jam in Cincinnati, OH. Placed top 3 at the Hip Hop World Challenge in Germany,toured the UK, and performed live with UK Beatbox Legend Killa Kela and US DMC Champ DJ Craze at the Winter Music Conference in 2006. You may have also seen him open for acts such as Dj Evil Dee, Obie Trice, Llyod Banks, Jim Jones & Kardinal Offishall.
N-zyme
Representing the uptown beats, N_zyme, a musical fanatic, quickly fell in love with his techniques in early '04. Since then he is always looking for new sounds and ways to mix a large variety of music. Watch out t-dot N_zyme is becoming a force to reckon with for his skills behind the decks.
