Tickled Pink is back for their August instalment, and after last month’s testosterone overload, we have decided to make this month a chick DJ extravaganza!
Melbourne has many talented female DJ’s on the scene so it was hard to narrow down the list of who we wanted to play at Tickled Pink, so we decided to bring you a nice mix of style & flavour.
Music, in all its guises, is a passionate interest for Katie Drover and has been since she started piano lessons at the age of seven and DJing has been her creative expression for the last 4 years. At the age of 19, Katie walked into her first residency at Room 680 in Hawthorn and has had solid and constant residencies ever since. The role of the dj, she says, is to keep exploring. You’ve always got to be thinking and trying new ways of creating interesting, dynamic sets. I love blending and mixing, interchanging genres and using records as an instrument to create interesting sounds.
Ms Gove exploded on the Melbourne scene when she won the 2006 Miss Vinyl competition. With a rocking set that just could not be beaten, her mixing skills, music selection, style and the whole package, were very highly scored by the judges. With 3 years experience under her belt in the Melbourne DJ scene, breakbeat and electro spinstress, Ms Gove, has turned many heads since her first gig at Arthurs Bar in November 05. Her sets so far have been absolute crowd pleasers, she knows what the punters want, and will deliver it strongly!
A self confessed vinyl addict Virginia Le has spent the last 5 years working at several record stores around Melbourne. Her knowledge and passion for dance music saw her recruited by Australia’s premier record store “DMC Records”. Virginia’s sound is a unique and addictive fusion of deep German Minimal, tech-house and techno which has resulted in her becoming one of the most in demand DJ’s in Melbourne with residencies and guest spot’s at some of its most respected club nights and events.
If that’s not quite enough for you, Tickled Pink residents, Danni B, Elektra, Sass and Miss Chris are joining in the fun also for a night of female delight.
