Yeah, Don't listen to the computer technician.. IDIOT.
And yes, It's been well established that Vista = .
But DELL laptops are a good alternative if you don't want to buy a mac. |
I'm a computer technician :)
Dell are .
I would only buy their LCDs (because they're rebadged Samsungs) and keyboards (because they look awesome!).
Macs, Toshiba (not all), Sony and Asus are the best built laptops in existence. Macs, Sony and Asus all come from one manufacturer, which happens to be Asus itself. Toshiba come from the same , low-grade, manufacturers as Dell, HP, Compaq etc. (usually Compal or Quanta) but they are usually smarter about the component grading and manufacturing processes.
Other than MSI (lol...), Asus is the only company to manufacture and retail their own product. Think about that for a second.
(for the dumbasses amongst you: supply chain costs = not there!) ;) |

I was talking to you?
Different strokes for different folks but personally i still stick to my earlier arguement that DELL laptops are a good alternative from Macs.
Personally id buy a MacBook - Because there main purpose in life is .. Multimedia.
I'm not anti Asus either. The desktop im currently on is running off an Asus board. Solid brand.. But i hate to see people giving DELL laptops .. Theres nothing wrong with them at all.
There desktops on the other hand.. :sadgreen: |

If you had repaired as many Dell laptops (usually one month out of warranty) as me, you would think differently. It's funny actually, I see more broken Dells (from other stores) than laptops we actually sell to our own customers rofl (my boss refuses to stock Dell).
Here is another fun fact:
Their batteries have a notably bad reputation. Sometimes, you are lucky to get 3 months out of one. Like that isn't bad enough, 4.1 million batteries were recalled because they CAUGHT ON FIRE. (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dy...6081400881.html). Yeah... Dell are heaps good quality.
Another point:
Dell offer a 12 month warranty as standard. Asus laptops come with a 2 year international warranty as standard. Many that we have sold actually came with 3 years, at no cost. What does that say about the company's confidence in their own product?
I will agree that upper market Dells are ok. But when you're spending $5,000, it doesn't really matter what brand you go with, they will all be good. |

BTW: just FYI... go into the DJ forum and search "dell". A few threads should pop up about hiss through the speakers. That comes from crap quality power supplies, which is another problem occuring frequently in Dells. ;)
Try the same thing for any other brand... for comparison. |

Who uses the onboard sound card for productions/mixing anyway?
Bash all you want, I'm not about to have a Mac Vs PC, DELL vs Asus etc debate.. It could go for hours. But i personally stand behind DELL laptops. |
