Jonathan Allyn came to our last ConnectATL meeting to talk about an opening for a DJ on the Solar Sessions cruise in September headed out of Ft Lauderdale.
So far 12 people from ConnectATL are going on the cruise. I asked Jonathan for the spot when he was asking about it online. After that I had the dubious Task of selecting who would DJ.
that.
So the bottom line is I got a spot and I am going to give it to the group and you guys are going to pick who plays on the boat.
There is no requirement that you be affiliated with ConnectATL to be a part of this event. HOWEVER, you must be going on the cruise.
Why is that you ask?
Because the people who are going on the cruise are doing so already cause they know its a good way to network, if that's your thing.
The DJ who is selected will become part of the Solar Sessions tour.
You will be part of all promotional material in the weeks leading up to the event.
Your mix will be featured on the Solar Sessions promo cd that will be going out prior to the cruise.
As a DJ on the tour your mix will be featured on Satellite radio for one week, each DJ will have their own week.
You will open the pre-launch party in Miami, venue will be announced on a later date.
And of course the grand finale will be you playing on the Cruise Ship itself.
You will have your event fees waived for the cruise
note: you still have to pay for the cruise itself (Jonathan Allyn does not collect this amount either so no bitching)
OK so who goes?
Jonathan had originally asked for a Progressive House DJ. He came to the meeting and said as it fits the crowd that would go see the other mix of talent already on the tour then the genre isn't that important.
What does that mean?
It means do a little due diligence and find out who is already booked on the tour. Artist bios can be found here:

Then you need to put together a 30 min mix. If anybody needs help with putting one together let me know, or post it here, and we'll find somebody to help you. Thats what the we do Atlanta.
Submit your 30 min mix to ConnectATL by SUNDAY JULY 29TH.
ConnectATL will post the mixes online July 30th and make an announcement that they are available.
Once the mixes are available the public will be allowed to vote online for the mix (or homeboy or best buddy) or whatever that they want to represent ATL on the cruise. The poll will last one week ending on Monday August 6th.
Then our August meeting you will play a live 30 min set in front of the toughest crowd in Atlanta ( a bunch of damn DJ's ). Everyone in the August meeting will then rank each performance and we will tally up the results.
Online votes = 50% of your score
Meeting votes = the other 50%
note: i won't be voting, breaking ties though so watch out
How much does the damn cruise cost?
ConnectATL already has a discount that we told you about a couple months ago. We get $75 off a person for rooms of 3 or more. Nobody else is getting this discount. Why? Cause I'm not getting a commission so anybody who thinks I am lining my pockets by helping Jonathan out are mistaken.
And anybody thinking Jonathan is making a killing on coming into the meetings and talking about his event know that he hasn't sold one ticket through the meeting. I did buy a bunch however and I acquired a slot on the ship with it and now I am giving that away.
This contest is not for everybody. I know there are enough DJ's going already that could fill that slot, However, there might be a few out there that were needing one more crumb out there to go. This is a big crumb. No guarantee but the consolation prize is that you are going on a cruise in September.
If you want to go on the uber cheap a 4 person room is around $550 (that includes event fees and port charges and all that crap, and a hotel in miami for the preparty and a shuttle to the boat)
If you are solo and want to go we have a few mixes already submitted and we'll try and put people together so that you can get the uber cheap rate. You have to shovel coal in the broilers for a day but we've all done that right?
Not too shabby.
Runner up will also get a feature and or a gig but we are still looking into open spots for that.

This is the chance of a LIFETIME. Some of the venues rumored to be holding the launch party of the cruise are Space and Pawnshop. YOU COULD OPEN THIS EVENT AT ONE OF THESE VENUES.
The only reason I am not doing this is because I'm not on the cruise already. |

No it's because you had to celebrate your birf day in Yerp. What if we charged at your house warming party and the door went to your cruise.
