As many of you know, since Satellite closed its doors earlier this year, Brett and I have been working diligently to launch PropelRecords.com, which is currently in "Beta Testing" mode. Obviously, with the void left by Satellite, everyone has gone to new sources for their music. I posted this poll to get a better understanding of where people are going to get tracks. By studying where you guys like to go, we can figure out what competitive advantages we need to offer through Propel to regain the Satellite customers.
We are working on a few strategies with our suppliers that will allow us to things that no other record store (online or store-front) currently does. But, we always like to hear what you have to say. Please feel free to share more thoughts/ideas/requests/complaints/whatever in this thread. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. |

| Chalk one for Beatport. Haven't bought a record in a few months. I have better use for my money than $15 a record. |

I checked off everything except "never shopped at sat." because I used to shop every now and then from their NYC store. But I go through all sorts of means to get my records:
- eBay, Gemm, Discogs for used and new records
- Dancerecords.com when possible for new records (no hastle with exchange rates, high shipping costs, etc)
- 4djsonly.com when I cant find a record anywhere else that I REALLY want
- Beatport/Audiojelly/trackitdown.net/dance-tunes.com/iTunes for most of the stuff now-a-days... With promos being MP3s and the invent of CDJs, Serato Scratch Live, etc it's just SOOOO much more economical for me to buy MP3s as opposed to vinyl.
I'll always love vinyl and wish it wasn't so expensive and difficult to store/organize/carry/etc... But when I can buy a track for $1.49 (assuming I can find it) and get it almost instantly it's just become a more viable option.
All that being said I'm primarily a vinyl collector and an EDM fan/listener so I enjoy the MP3s to put on my iPod/laptop anyway. I don't really "play out" anywhere anyway. I'm not buying too much "new" stuff on vinyl anymore... really just hunting down some of the older stuff now to complete my collections...
