Hey, all. Wanted to drop a note and let you Atlanta locals know I'm attempting to start a trance meetup group. Certainly not trying to promote any particular site (and sorta wonder if there would have been a better place to do it, like Yahoo), but here's the link
http://trance.meetup.com/55/
I wanted to throw it out there and see what sticks. If a group formed and connected, we could meet for the big dj's who come through town (right now, mostly Liquified events). In time, possibly try to have our own small events where any wanna-be trance djs could spin for a party/event.
Let me know what you think,

| I would certainly be down for joining something like that. It could be a great way to meet people here locally, though I think Tranceaddict.com kinda takes care of that. I know a lot of TA's here in ATL know each other, host after parties and not only get DJ's to spin at said after parties, but some are even DJs themselves. |

I've recently been finding that out. Last weekend, I met w/ a few very cool guys off TA and we plan to get together again to learn how to dj and socialize. I guess I thought of TA as more of a forums site where you can share and learn, not so much a social connection. I mean, there's no place on TA specifically for ppl to join a local group, I don't think.
I paid 60 bucks for 6 months worth of hosting/leading the meetup.com group, though I have 30 days to get a refund. And I assumed they had forums on there for the locals to chat. It's not quite what I expected; you can only email the group or an individual. That lack of a decent forum is making me very tempted to say screw it and go to yahoo groups for free. It's just nice and easy to get ppl connected there w/ there brief profiles and pics. Plus, there are like 20+ ppl signed up on there that indicated an interest in a trance group. I think it's worth exploring...someway, somehow.
Personally, I think there may be a lot (that's relative) of ppl in Atlanta that would be interested in something like this, but I don't know of any groups here like it. And if you're not hardcore on TA, you probably don't have the connections for after parties, etc.
Whatever the situation...if there's something already there for a trance community, no reason to reinvent the wheel. The key is having a central place for ppl to connect.
All thoughts are welcome...just want to see what can be done to organize trance fans here in town.

The local forums are all you need for this sort of thing, so you should probably look into getting that refund :p
Post all meetups/parties/whatever in here as long as it isn't incessant spam :)
I'm down with meeting all the ATLTA's, even if some of them never attend shows. |
