Soma Corp and Pretty Simple team up to present the second installment of an event series designed to emulate the international artist / big-room clubbing experience, yet putting the focus firmly back on the local players. After a near full capacity event for round one featuring a killer all-Melbourne lineup; Local Extracts #2 proudly welcomes one of Australia's most talented and diverse techno / tech-house DJ's, Simon Caldwell. Hailing from Sydney's hottest underground event crew Mad Racket - responsible for bringing the likes of Herbert, Metro Area, Steve Bug, Swag, Tom Clark, Tom Middleton and Jamie Liddel to our shores - and having previously played the likes of Honkytonks and Meccanoid in Melbourne, Tresor in Berlin, Nitsa in Barcelona, the Czech Republic, and Sydney's very best club nights and Festivals supporting a who's who of techno and deep house, Simon continues to push new ideas and influences while still being able to draw on the history of his expansive record collection. Whether he's playing techno, minimal house, ambient, soul, hip hop, Detroit electro or jazz, you can expect to hear the old alongside the new... but in the hands of Simon Caldwell, music is timeless.
Simon will be joined alongside Melbourne's own Pat Stormont LIVE fresh from an incredible set at the Babicz event, a 90 minute special performance from Pinksilver duo and masters of the deep, Forty6&Two, and Australia's greatest techno versus team pairing up for the first time in years for a special 2 hour performance - Dave Pham vs Dallas Raft!! Add the on-point talents of Pretty Simple main man Dean Millson, MTC boys Craig McWhinney and Sam McEwin, and the Soma Corp debut of Nicnac and d-JCB and you have the recipe for a pretty damn amazing night of music that you won't soon forget.
We will once again be fitting FFour with that kick-ass Nexo system featured at the Babicz event and the club now has an indoor / outdoor balcony iinstalled for the smokers! Forget the internationals, forget the cold, welcome to the cutting-edge of Australian electronica. This is Local Extracts...
