ok me and my mate have been trying to plan our own night for ages and finally we have a venue!
it is a nice underground spot in town, from the outside it is grimey and underground which is just what were looking for...its cheap and we can have it till 1!! hey cmon thats not that bad for a crowd where most will be first time trancers...the idea of the night is to try build the local EDM scene and try and create a little ongoing night.
I will get some pics uploaded of the venue and let you see...but i was trying to see if anyone else on here have done similar things in the past and if so some reports on how they went (advice) and pics/videos if u have any!
Any replies apreciated!

good luck with your new night
it takes a lot of hard work to have a successful night, but your hard work pays off
and don't slack off when you have good numbers, it's still a lot of hard work to maintain it
hard work does pays off though
if things go down the crapper, don't get discouraged, think of it as grad school, have another go at it and take what you learned and improve on it |

| Good luck. It is a LOT of work to get even a few people to show up to your event, especially if you're trying to build a scene from scratch. Try to advertise around an area nearby that has scene, and don't forget your web advertising also... |

good luck dude!
my hat off to you for getting your together and putting in the work to throw your first party. Throwing successful parties is a job, straight up...it requires a lot more work than you might think. But to pull it off is a great thing, and one of the coolest feelings.
let us know how it goes |

| ye,well the rave is actually in Leicstershire, where i live not in term time..i guess u thought it was in edinburgh! kinda wished it was theres alot cooler venues there! |

so the rave happened last night, my overall general result...a success! considering all the pros and cons it was a success, everyone at the end was cheering and demanding another one! condsidering it was our first attempt at a night like this and everyone who came were new to the EDM scene and they seemed to love it...
It started around 8ish with some progressive/funky house from my co organiser, then i came on about 1030 for a session of uplifting trance which went down a treat, had everyone raving till 1 when it had to finish..some songs i found with long breakdowns seemed to give people a chance to go get a drink or toilet or something.
We had about 25 people turn up, however the hall was quite small capacity was about 100 so a quarter full! at the time i thought it was a wash out but considering it was in a very small town that was alright but most important the 25 that did turn up did have an awesome time! and are well up for another so hopefully word of mouth will get around and double the numbers for next time.
The location was the most important key with this type of night.. luckily we found a perfect place, it is a marching band hall with a bar in the next room so all lights are kept away from the hall..this meant we cud have it really dark with a flicking strobe and a laser type light. filled it with smoke and it suited the mood we wanted.
A break down of the costs for the night were 30 pound to rent the hall with the bar till 12 and we hired a bouncer on the door for 60 quid for the night. and after guests paying a pound on the door the whole night cost me and my mate 35 quid each! which i thought was well worth it! all we need now is more of them and a growing following!..
Ive included my set list incase anyone wanted to get a feel for the music played,i am proud to say every mix was phased and every beat hit! also added some pics which i thought captured the night well.
I highly recomend it to anyone, it is a good feeling after when you hear posotive feedback however on the night you are on edge hoping everything works out!
All it needs now is a good following! i have a video which i will try get on youtube soon!

Nice pics, and the lava lamp is class!
I'd like to have some sort of video for the events that I'm going to, but I'll make do with my cell-phone camera for now.
I know how it is with turnouts. It's hard to build a following but with time (and good events) it will come. We've been working at it in Hickory for over six months and just now are we getting some "regulars" for the events. Persistence and continuity seem to be key here (don't mix things up TOO much until you get a base set up).
Now I get to start something up in Atlanta... |
