double your price range

If you wanna create AND mix music, you surely have to raise your budget.
A pair of CDJ800MK2 + decent mixer (Xone or DJM) + headphones is more than 2k.
Then you want stuff to create...I'd say that it is as expensive.
Do the maths ;) |

i got a djm500 and 2 cdj1000s in a flightcase for 2000, so that's possible.
but production equipment is also ing expensive, even if you're going a software route. i've spent thousands on music as well since i've been deejaying, so.... |

was talking about the DJM800 ;)
If he wants to plug in his producing equip also, he needs more than 2 channels... |

I would say raise your budget, and put off spending on everything and buy things little by little. You should realize it's a very expensive hobby to get into only to realize you've spent $5000 and get bored of it quickly or realize "it's not for me." I would put around $3k to start with into a basic DJ setup including a small library of music.
If you still want to go deeper into the rabbit you'd want to save ATLEAST another $3K for the bare bones software, outboards, monitors, midi controllers, hard synths, soft synths, plugins, hardware plugins, etc.
Good luck. |

| Don't get any production gear unless you know exactly what you're getting, what it does, and how you're gonna use it. Otherwise you'll just end up spending thousands on things you don't need and you'll regret it. DJ gear is fine - as long as you get high end stuff, if you decide you don't want it anymore it has some pretty good resell value. |
