MAIN STAGE HOSTED BY

LIL’ JON
with a Special Performance with THE BME CLICK
www.myspace.com/liljonworld

Anyone stepping into a club in the last two years has certainly thrown them bows to the crunk stylings of Lil Jon. A torchbearer to the hip-hop movement known as "crunk", with its signature rowdy choruses and block-rocking beats, this self-proclaimed King of Crunk, Atlanta rap icon Lil Jon has built up a formidable empire since he first hit the scene in 1997. Best known for his hyperactive, chant-along style, he's scored a long string of crossover hits, including "Bia Bia," "Get Low," and "Damn!" By the end of 2004, Lil Jon's favorite expressions "Yeaaahh?!" and "Whaat!?" became fodder for numerous comedians. Dave Chappelle's hilarious impression of the producer was becoming as popular as his Rick James impression. And Lil Jon’s not just a rapper -- Jon's production skills are in serious demand from all kinds of artists, among them Usher, who enlisted him to lace the beat for his single "Yeah", Petey Pablo, Ciara, Korn, Too Short, E 40, and The Ying Yang Twins, just to name a few. In addition to cranking out platinum hits, Lil Jon has also helped to develop new talent, including Lil Scrappy and Trillville. Prepare yourself, for this man of Crunk, will be bringing his animated personality and party tactics to our Canadian stage. For his first ever appearance in Vancouver he will be performing with his notorious group, BME Click, as well as Hosting the Main Stage all night, bringing his indescribable entertainment through and through.

BUBBA SPARXXX
www.bubbasparxxx.com
myspace.com/bubbasparxxx

Born Warren Anderson Mathis in the small mill town of LaGrange, Georgia, Bubba Sparxxx burst onto the scene in 2001 wearing overalls and driving a tractor in the video for “ugly,” the Timbaland-produced frenetic hit single from Bubba’s gold-selling debut Dark Days, Bright Nights. Wanting his fans to have a better understanding of his true background Bubba released his sophomore album, Deliverance, and it was just that: a highly introspective look at life in rural America that cut to the heart of who Bubba Sparxxx is. Produced by Timbaland, the album married country and hip-hop, calling it everything from daring to ingenious, and crowning Bubba as one of the South’s greatest lyrics. Soon after the album was released Bubba had a falling out with Interscope Records, leading Bubba to leave the label. Enter fellow well-respected southern MC, Outkast’s Big Boi, and his brand new label, Purple Ribbon Ribbon Records (distributed through Virgin Records). Big Boi certainly has shown faith – he inked the deal for Bubba Sparxxx to join the family himself and even lends his production to the album. With production by Organized Noise, Timbaland, Mr. DJ, Basement Beats, the Heatmakers and Big Boi, The Charm is Bubba’s most ambitious outing to date. With hit songs, impressive lyrical content, a new understanding of the business, and the excitement of a new label behind him, three might just be Bubba Sparxxx’s lucky number. It might just be The Charm.

THE X-ECUTIONERS
myspace.com/thexecutioners

These world-renown turntablists, formerly known as the X-Men, officially became the X-Ecutioners when they made the leap from battle-DJs to recording artists in their own right. Founded in 1989 with the stated intention of dethroning the reigning battle-DJs in the local hip hop DJ scene, the prestigious establishment set to become the most dominant forces in the history of the hip hop DJ. These New York natives can count themselves among a select handful of DJs (including their west coast peers the now defunct Invisibl Skratch Piklz) who spearheaded the turntablist movement, by taking the classic hip-hop techniques of mixing and cutting into a whole new realm of musical improvisation. In 2004 Roc Raida and Total Eclipse, welcomed the genre-elevating talents of turntablists DJ Boogie Blind (2000 Vestax World Champ) and DJ Precision (Beatdown World Champ 2002) as official members of the ever-evolving super DJ group. Bringing the groups current members to Roc Raida, Total Eclipse, Boogie Blind, Precision, X Men Alummi, Boogie Boy, Diamond J, DMD, Dr Butcher, Exotic E, Johnny Cash, Mista Sinista, Rob Swift and Steve D. This year at Summer Break we are lucky enough to have Roc Raida and Boogie Blind grace our stage on a special hour and a half party rockin’ DMC turntablist set. So put on your dancing shoes and prepare yourself, as these world renown DJ’s amaze us on the wheels of steel!

Confident. Exuberant. Raw. Innovative. These are just a few of the words industry insiders and fans have used to describe the talent behind one of America’s favorite house DJs, Donald Glaude. Ranked #68 on DJMag.com’s Top 100 DJs List in 2005, Donald skyrocketed to #48 this year and his genius keeps on growing. Before Donald few DJs had attempted to spin house records. Donald’s fine ear helped him give birth to a new style. After mastering his craft, Donald began DJing in various clubs around Tacoma and Seattle. Some DJs seek commercial acceptance. Donald, on the other hand, has always preferred an emotional connection with his audience. For Donald, house music is not simply a mixed bag of sound, but rather an experience that provokes the soul. Apart from his mastery on the decks, Donald is best known for his dynamic showmanship. He enjoys his music as much as his audience does. Embracing their energy, it is not uncommon to find Donald pumping his hands in the air, jumping up and down and shouting back his love to the crowd. Donald’s uncompromising style and innovation show no sign of slowing down any time soon. With the credit of 5 full-length CDs and numerous remixes under his belt, Donald has focused much of his time to production work.

TRANCE STAGE:

GEORGE ACOSTA
www.georgeacosta.com
myspace.com/georgeacosta

Trance, whether you like your trance melodic and uplifting, or hard and fast, trance by any definition is here to stay. From the warehouse parties of the late 80’s to car commercials in 2001, trance has become part of the new millennium, part of our lifestyle. And all because of DJs like George Acosta. George proves every time he puts a needle on a record that "trance”, whatever the label, has changed, evolved, become a lifestyle, a culture… as well it should. With over 15 years of experience as a DJ and producer, George has helped change and evolve trance from an underground movement to massive festival experiences throughout the world. George Acosta is America’s representative in the global Trance scene. Coming up playing warehouse parties in his native Miami, he then went on to producing tracks of his own with such international hits like Planet Soul, Emotions, Taking Over Space, R U Awake and The Reaper. He knows his crowds so well because he is just as big a fan as they are of his music. Just like the thousands he plays for, George Acosta lives it. George tries to maintain a close connection to the people who come to hear him play because like them, he discovered the music as a fan first. Join George as he bangs out the hard hittin’ tracks and allow him to prove to you why he is considered a large contributor to the trance scene!

THE THRILLSEEKERS
www.thethrillseekers.co.uk
myspace.com/thethrillseekers

Steve Helstrip (AKA The Thrillseekers) has been at the very forefront of the world's trance scene for over 6 years now. From his breakout hit 'Synaesthesia', through to the anthems 'Dreaming of You' and most recently 'By Your Side', he has continued to produce a powerhouse of the most emotive music going. Steve has enthralled crowds the world over with both his Thrillseekers Live and DJ sets. The Ministry, Gallery, PaSSion and Godskitchen have all born witness to his fluid mixing, unique style and kinetic, energetic performances. Whilst still closeted in Chipping Norton, Steve took it upon himself to learn the art of DJing. It was initially born purely out of a desire to see how his records worked in the mix with other tracks, and as a tool with which to improve their properties for the DJ. This quickly turned into a desire to see them, first hand, fire up a floor. Realizing how, in the ever changing world of dance music, DJ’ing was starting to go hand in hand with production, Steve began to apply even more energy to perfecting the skill. Steve was always one for quality over quantity and whilst other trance producers belted out one sound-a-like track after another, he focused on creating a catalogue he would still be happy with in 20 years time. With this said it’s plain to see that The Thrillseekers are a highly anticipated contributor to the hype of Summer Break!

Her live mix CD, Myshell Nukina Live, reached #154 on the Canadian Independent Radio Charts in 2004 as well as garnering critical praise from the likes of Jesse Saunders, "originator" of house music, and Craig Anderton, editor of EQ magazine. It can be easily said that DJ Myshell is definitely a name to watch for, this Scarlett of Music is one of Canada’s top up and coming Canadian Producer and undeniably a force to be reckoned with!

I'd go to see Steve Helstrip, and an odd local here and there, but I don't have $60 (if I moved now) or more to spend.

Everyone who's going, enjoy! Highfive to Digital Over and Jimmy V.

fancy lineup, but also a major difference from last year's $20 tickets
i was going to go, but i really dont want to be spending $60-$70 on a ticket and drive out to chilliwack. altho, i do understand the high price is due to several major acts

i hope josh will get more than 2 portapotties this time hahaha
