REVIEW: Guvernment - May 12th, 2007

Hey I just got back from the Guv, dropped by for a couple hours to enjoy the music.

I must say the renovations look amazing. Things I noticed that changed (feel free to add)

- Bottle service booths right where the Guvernment entrance is (after the place where you buy glowsticks and lollipops)
- DJ booth is tucked into the corner
- The left wall where there used to be tons of fans is now a white wall with a geometric design.
- Entrance to bathrooms are bigger so the line-ups for them are within them
- They took out a few of the counters. (By the smoking patio, and by the washrooms, hence a lot more room to move logistically)
- The nitrous cannon got moved a lil further back and center.
- The old back stage is now extended and there's also couches along to wall
- On the new stage there seems to be a cut out of what may be a special DJ booth for special events.
- There's a lil dance floor when you go upstairs towards the Drink with sofas and a bit of dancing space.
- The floor wasn't completely done yet, but there's spiral patterns to it.
- Bunch of metal bars in the back corner and upstairs for design.
- Better sound? Or I might be hearing things.
- Another bar added on the stage, so smaller line up for drinks.
- Yellow entrance frames for the main room and smoking patio

I guess that's it for now. Can't wait to see some DJ's on that stage if I'm right about the cut out for the booth, especially for Eddie Halliwell.

Can anyone ID which remix Mark Oliver used for Promiscuous Girl? At about 1:30-2:00 AM?

Sounds like some pretty sweet renovations have been made. Two quick questions: were the lights any different? And do you still have guv horn?

Here's my description of the room...

The entire room has a definate atmosphere to it now, almost like rainforesty.

There are big trees/plans all along the elevated bar to the left of the entranceway. The room itself is painted a greenish colour, and there are waterfall like things all along the back wall leading into the acid lounge.
The acid lounge itself is meant to be like you are standing underneath a waterfall, very cool! My favourite part of the new reno's.

I was very happy to see that they have moved the DJ booth. No more birds nest up in the sky.
It is in the corner where there used to be a stage, on a type of platform so that it is elevated.

They have also reconfigured the sound so that it is evenly dispursed throughout the entire room. The days of needing to monitor whether you were one step in or two steps out of the speaker box are over, quality sound through the entire thing.

The bathrooms also have an eartiness to them, there is the sound of a thunderstorm noticably playing in teh bathrooms and the countertops are pretty cool. The attention to detail reminds me of dragonfly.

From the DJ booth itself there is a new lazer that is like the old one, but has a few noticably different patterns.

From the entranceway to the patio up on the elevated section there is now bottle service tables that look very cool. Would be perfect for getting one for a big headliner.

And there is a new staircase in addition to the old one, that starts near that back of the room and heads up to the old d'luxe lounge, which is now still there, but totally open concept and flows right in and out of the mainroom.

All in all, fantastic job with the reno's!

well it was only a matter of time before they introduced bottle service into that mainroom given that every other club on this continent is now doing it

Hey did anyone notice if I had a sign on my back that said "open for business"???
Because apparently every there thought I was and I was just unsure of the reason for this :conf:

And I am NOT exaggerating, I usually get it the worse out of ANYONE else in Guv, but last night was just beyond comprehension - Josh can confirm with his near death experience with some guy who just "had to touch me" :nervous:

Now, Forget the reno's!!
Let's talk about the prelude of music leading up to the summer we heard last night.
MO was on FIIIIAAAA!! He was a triple K Sickkk!!
TUNAGE GALORE!!
World Hold on (yeah I know but loves it still)
Bunny Lake Bunny Lake
Silence- Delerium
As the rush comes (haha)
Stay around
Dreams
LOVE SENSATION (SHELLEY!!!!)
and to end...
System F- Out of the Blue
Beautiful things -Andain
Gouryella
Open your eyes- weeeeeee!!

and a thousand other banging tunes I cant even think of them all now.

Oh and apparently M&S were laying it out in a fine prelude to summer as well

Ya'll missed out, haha Lars :clown:

Oh well maybe next time

P.S. there are more stalls in the women's washroom Woo-hoo!!!:D

*edit* and a whole bunch of 80's tunes remixed were played early in the night- it was very fun!
and "I wish there were no rules, I wish there were no rules...." I dont know the name of track of hand
