For fans of truly emotive cutting-edge house music the name Ricky Ryan brokers immediate recognition. With jazz, vocals, guitar & piano knowledge, and a brilliant producer under his Can Costa moniker, the Argentinian is progressing at a remarkably fast pace to being one of the most highly regarded DJs in the world.
For a man with a varying contemporary musical background it is perhaps no surprise to find his taste in music is filled with different genres. A DJ whose style has many similarities to Desyn Masielo, they can be deservedly mentioned in the same sentence as his sets are stunningly crafted journeys through funky, disco, electro, breaks, techno & house music grooves - a rich, warm, tapestry of sound that could not fail to get any dancefloor moving.
In 2005 Ricky Ryan became resident at the iconic Warung Beach Club in Brazil, one of the most acclaimed venues in South America and ranked by many as one of the best clubs in the world. This came as a consequence of his hard work and constant touring, taking part in several events and festivals in venues around the globe such as Pacha, Mint, Miami WMC & Creamfields - sharing in the line up with Massive Attack, Rinocerose, Andy Fletcher (Depeche Mode), FC Kahuna, The Human League, Junior Sanchez, Slacker, Darren Emerson, Groove Armada, Paul Oakenfold, Plump Djs, Tom Middleton, Erick Morillo, Christian Smith, Marco Bailey, Mistress Barbara, Adam Beyer & Richie Hawtin.
On July 8th of 2006 Ricky was featured as guest on John Digweed´s legendary Transitions, being the third Argentinean (along with Hernan Cattaneo & Martin Garcia) to have a spot on the acclaimed show, with around 30 tracks blended in a 60 minutes mix!
Ricky's also back in the studio. Alongside production partner Max Cagliero and under his Can Costa moniker, they have recently released remixes to tracks for Eddie F, Joshua and Steve Porter which have reached the highest positions in progressive sales charts worldwide. In the past Ricky has collaborated with other well known artists like MOS, Kosmas Epsilon and has been remixed by D-Nox & Beckers, Pig & Dan, Fat Phaze, Shafunkers, Smight, Blendbrank, Shiloh, Pj Davy, 16 Bit Lolitas & Mashtronic.
His music has recieved support from Sasha, Digweed, Danny Tennaglia, Deep Dish, Pete Tong, Hernan Cattaneo, Luke Fair, Desyn Masiello, Lee Burridge, Sander Kleinenberg, Nic Fanciulli / Skylark, James Zabiela, Omid 16B, Satoshi Tomiie, Adam Freeland, Steve Gerrard, Jimmy Van M, Josh Wink, Anthony Pappa, Nick Warren, Dave Seaman & Steve Lawler to name a few.
On May 25th Ricky Ryan will headline at the Habit Autumn Ball, with 2 rooms of the finest house, progressive and tech for the dancefloor at Candys Apartment.
The local support is every bit as mouthwatering with another chance to see Matt Rowan & Jaytech, as well as sets from Adam Jace, Gil Reemo, Habit DJs, Foundation, Nathan Bolling, Chris Rawlins, Andy B and Razi.
If anyone is making the trip up from Melbs for this PM me ;) |
