So were beginning to pack up around here since were selling our house, and upon digging through some boxes that havent been opened since last century (literally), I stumble upon my copy of Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo for Sega Saturn. I then remember some of the games I had...the best one easily being:
Dragon Force.
I cant even count the number of hours I drained into that game.
Let us also not forget the delicious:
Panzer Dragoon

I never played #2 nor did I play Saga, though I hear both of those are even better. I own Panzer Dragoon Orta on Xbox, which of course kicks ample amounts of ass as well.
Virtua Cop
I am such a sucker for the Virtua Cop games. I cant even count as high as the amount of times Ive beaten number 1 and 2. Obviously the arcade versions are superior, but if you own the light guns, its practically the same experience with the exception of the graphics being tier. In my opinion, Virtua Cop was the series that made light gun games what they are today (or should I say...what they were, I dunno if the genre has any life left in it), and they sit right next to Time Crisis as being among my favorites.
Legend of Oasis

Excuse the terrible screenshot, but this game was a load of fun too. Think Secret of Mana, only except with just 1 person. I thought it was a good time. |

Most definetely. If I remember correctly, the system launched without ANYONE knowing. They didnt advertise it at all...it was mentioned by some Sega representative at E3 I believe, who said that Sega had released it without notification (if I'm wrong on this one please correct me, but I believe thats correct to my knowledge).
Also, it launched at $400! The fact of the matter is, the Saturn consisted of too many short Arcade ports and not enough strikingly original content that would distinguish it from the PSone and N64. Nights was a fantastic attempt, but I think it released a little too late, since by then the N64 had already invaded and people had sort of lost interest in the Saturn.
Perhaps if Phantasy Star made a Saturn appearance... |

| It should also be noted that not a single worthwhile Sonic game was released for Sega's 32 bit wonder. Perhaps that may contribute as to why it wasnt anywhere near as popular as the Genesis. I remember Sonic R, which was some racing game with Sonic characters where you literally RAN the race. I never played it, but I heard it was utter . Also, there was Sonic Jam, which was just a recollection of all the previous Genesis Sonic's. |

I'm postwhoring the outta my own thread, but it IS my thread, so all haters! Here's a link to a nice rundown as to why the Saturn was a disaster even before it launched. About halfway through the article, you'll see a tidbit on what I mentioned in my quoted post...the launch date of the Saturn in the US was THE day that the launch date was given in the first place! It was THAT day! |

| OMG totally down with Saturn. It was the BEST with Capcom's great 2D fighting games, such as Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire (aka DarkStalkers 3), Pocket Fighter and some great shooting guns, like Radiant Silvergun (or something like that.) The 4MB RAM cartridge + converter made it the SIMPLEST system for playing Japanese games. :) I wish my Saturn still worked properly though. :( |
