What did you listen to before EDM?

What kind of music did you guys listen to before you started listen to EDM (Trance/House/DnB/Techno/Hardcore/Euro/etc.)? Or did you always listen some form of EDM?
I started out listening to a lot of alternative and metal stuff stuff..and some punk stuff...
Then later on actually liked the rap/hip-hop for a couple years ... argh!
I then finally transitioned to the Euro stuff which let me to become a trance lover :D |

| i liked mainstream radio , then i liked punk/ska music, then i liked some alternative and rap. Then my brother (Emonster4life) and i started to blaze together and he really got me into trance and house. I still cant and probably never will be able to like drum and bass. |

oh god when i was way young i was into pop stuff, top 40 ie. backstreet boys, spice girls, n sync (mind u i was like 8 at the time lol)
then i got into korn, metallica, limp bizkit and to this day i still listen to a bit of that once in a while
then when i hit highschool i got into what is now called classic trance and from there it just continued to grow on me and now i'll listen to pretty much every form of edm |

| i dont listen to edm (or one genre) exclusively. but i mostly listened to rage against the machine and other alternative acts.. which i still to today |

trip hop, alternative, british rock, 70 rock, heavy metal, Jazz, hip hop.
i still listen to them but not as much as i used to. |

i always loved my hip hop n i still do.....
but since finishing high skool its been nuttin but trance and hard house.....
as much as i liked 50cents tunes he killed hiphop for me.....
all these rappers talk bout now is how big there rims are and gold in there mouths..... |

i'm really curious to see what turns up in this thread, i find it funny that most people i know who were into hip hop before getting into edm started their experience with trance first, which really makes no sense, before progressing to jungle/dnb. i guess because most people introduced to their first big party do so w/ their first pill and trance ends up making sense. |
