[SYD] Sweetchilli - Retrospective

sweetchilli

There has been an urban legend of sorts circulating in chinwag circles over the years about Daniel Crocetti and Crispin playing a back 2 back set for 6 hours one morning at an after hours party. Rumour has it they were digging deep into their crates of records and playing some of the most beautiful tracks from some of the early years of Sweetchilli. This urban legend created some pretty intense emails and posts on public forums about how good a retrospective set would be and did 'the set' actually take place?

This idea of an old school set got us talking, initially we weren't that interested, we like to think that we are continually moving forward as a brand and we couldn't see the point in looking back into the past with all the exciting new stuff happening musically at the moment. We briefly chatted about it and then the idea fell into limbo.

Some years later the rumour was still floating around and it had grown, more and more people were talking about this old school set that never actually happened. On top of this, all the 'exciting music' that we were listening to was suddenly everywhere, new nights jumping on the bandwagon were popping up and that warm stripped back sound that got us moist years ago was the new black, so going back a few years didnt seem like such a bad idea anymore.

So in response to enormous amounts of picketing from you the punters, especially some from the early years coming out of the woodwork, excited to hear some of the old classic's again. The stars kind of aligned, and the fact that Sweetchilli's birthday is just around the corner means its the perfect time to get reflective and reach for the laser's, or in The Civic's case, reach for the bar.

What we have decided to do is to celebrate the last 8 years of Sweetchilli in one night going chronologically backwards from today all the way back to the beginning. Celebrating all the music that has made Sweetchilli so special and we may even bring in a couple of the original resident's to really make the party work. We also want to make the party inter-active for all our punters so we are going to set up a voting system for you guys to vote online for the top 5 tracksyou want to hear, and we will make sure we play the ones that get voted in, that way the punters are as much involved in the running of the night as the DJ's and we can hopefully create a very special party!
