It's stupid because it's the kind of thing that makes absolutely 'no' difference in the long run, yet people do it so they can feel all satisfied and self-righteous, despite the fact that far from helping to solve the problem, they go straight back to being a part of it the moment that hour is up.
You want to cut down on pollution? Remove all the lightbulbs from your house and start using candles on a permanant basis. Anything less is just masturbatory self-delusional bull.
It's like poverty, people throw $5 at red cross or some other BS charity, then while they feel all good about themselves they go spend $100 on a pair of nike shoes.

no, i just like to make sure people hear both sides of the argument before arriving at conclusions based on general public opinion.
i also find it hard to take anything sponsored by WWF and Sydney Morning Herald seriously.
