I am considering a move to Calagry...

I'm thinking of moving out there from Toronto, and I want to know how the club scene stacks up compared to ours. Any information would be appreciated.

Yet again I have to defend Calgary from narrow minded ignorance. Have you ever seen anyone on this board come out and "lol" at the Toronto scene? What right do you have to grind us? No of course you can't compare the Toronto Scene to the Calgary scene. Toronto has population of what, about 5 million, Calgary just 1 million. Therefore TO will have about 5 times as many clubs, 5 times as many parties, 5 times as many DJ's etc. Also dont forget that Calgary is in the west and yes, country bars take up a big portion of our clubs. Its just the way it is, what did you expect? I see that Mr. Allied Nations is from Montreal, please do us a favour and stay there, we dont need your negativism.

Misterpink, while as I said you wont find as much here as Toronto, I guarantee you will find what you are looking for. Of course it will be on a much smaller scale. Assuming you are looking for underground Trance, you will find venues such as the Amsterdam Rhino and the Warehouse that feature some of the best DJ's anywhere, as well as international headliners pretty much every week. I would stack up our locals against any Toronto Dj's or "superstar" headliners from anywhere anytime, you wont be dissapointed. You will also find Calgary is the home of success in the music scene, with some of Canadas longest running and succesful promotions companies, such as Farenheit, boodang, Aqua Audio, Drunken Monkey, and many of our DJ's now get worldwide exposure such as Micah (Global underground) and Rodi Style. Calgary is also the home of Canadas biggest trance label, Blacktiger Recordings. I could go on, there is alot going on here in the underground. Check out the usual places like Clubvibes and Clubzone to see whats going on, electrocalgary.com is a busy Calgary messageboard along with Subtutious.com Honestly if you are thinking of coming out here you should make a trip and check things out for yourself, dont let some Montreal buller stop you.

Cheers,

Thanks for taking the time to provide so much info. That is exactly what I was looking to hear. I'm actually going to be out there in the next couple of months to check it out, and I will definitely take your advice.
Maybe a dumb question, but will I be able to find the appropriate party supplies in the clubs out there?
