Comcast has a pretty bad rep in Chicago area... I have it, its ok right now - its been ok for a while now (knock on wood) but there are times when the speed is really crap it feels like ur on dialup and you feel like shooting yourself. And of course, this usually only happens when you have some kind of deadline where you *NEED* fast internet to upload some 100MB+ file. :< I dont know anything about RCN. I am paying an arm and a leg for basic cable + internet too (they tell me its "because of where I live".. what.. Chicago???), that's one area where the burbs shine, they dont pay and have very fast internet. but i am digressing.

I have found my Comcast internet signal will go down, for a day at a time. I'll call repair service, they say they can't figure out the problem as there are no outages, etc., but apparently my modem is "off-line." Next day I get an automated phone call saying they found the problem on their end and corrected it. Ok, internet worked fine for a week. After that: story repeats about 3 times.

very annoying

Plus, my cable signal on my TV isn't even that great, my local channels are always about to "return shortly" but never do.
