Mp3 players for recording

seeing as im gonna be travelling for a few months im gonna need an mp3 player to take with me.
ive looked into them a bit but still am yet to decide which one to go for.
i wanna be able to store photos on it as well as use it to record mixes. there are so many out there i dont know which one will best suit me. im thinking something with 4 to 6gig space will be perfect.
any recommendations? |

I have the Creative Zen Microphoto, and it sounds like this is exactly what you're looking for.
8 GB storage of music as well as photos (or any other data format you want to take with you)
It's quite small (smaller than an Ipod) which makes it ideal for travelling.
You do need a computer to recharge the battery though, dunno if you have one with you on your travels :P (perhaps there's a seperate recharger available, I don't know...)
The earplugs that come with them are also very nice. I've been using mine for about 1.5 years, and the cable has been abused quite some time, but it's still 100%.

Sansa E270 (6gb)
Plus if you've got a digital camera that uses microSD, you can take pictures directly on your card, then put the card in the player without having to go through a computer every time. |

The review for this player says it can record, but only from the built-in microphone (no line-input).

Hmmmm... I missed that part in the OP. Dunno if the Zen can record line-in. It does have a mic build in though... |

I use iRvier H320. Has line in recording up to 320 mp3's. built in mic, easy to manage as it's just an external hard drive.
only downsides to this is it limits file size to 200Mb, so if you record at 320 for two hours or so, you have to remember to stop and start a new file, or just record at a lower rate. |

| If you want really great recording ability, look at the flash based recorders out there, like the M-Audio microtrack or the Edirol R-09. |

Yeah you're right, forgot about that part. Guess you could just buy a short range FM transmitter, then tune the mp3 player to that and record from the radio.
Otherwise I'm sure there must be players out there for this particular purpose. |

I use a creative zen nano plus 1gb.
It has a line in capable of recording up to 160kbps mp3.
Im very happy with it.
you cant view photos with this one though :) |

now i just need to find a way to charge the thing while im travelling remembering im not gonna have a laptop of any sort |
