| I was looking into it. I play a lot of sports so glasses and contacts are pretty annoying. Can anyone offer any feedback on the subject ? I will scheduel a consoltation soon, but for the time being I'd like to get some feedback. Thanks ! |

Both my best friend, and my brother had worn glasses their entire lives, and I've always laughed at them. .:haha: They have perfect vision now, and I am half-blind in one eye. :(
If you can, have it done. |

How much is it roughly ? I think the going rate in Ottawa is about 500 a n eye. |

| I plan on getting it as soon as possible, as I intend to join the CF as Infantry, so having glasses/contacts would be more of an annoyance than anything. I've heard it being about 500$ an eye or so as well, but I'd talk it over with an optometrist if I were you. They'll be able to give you alot more information about the risks/rewards, etc. along with a probable referal to someone for a consultation for LASIK or whatever procedure it is you're looking into getting. |

| You only have one pair of eyes in this world. Don't screw with them. |

I had it done when I was 18 years old. At the time my vision had been stable for 2 years so I was allowed to have it done. I went to Acura Laser on St-John in DDO/Pointe-Claire just near Fairview, and the procedure went very smoothly. They gave me a student rate of $1800 7 years ago.
I had perfect vision for about 6 years, for the past year my eyesight has declined a tiny bit to the point where I need glasses to watch TV, but that would have happened regardless of whether I had perfect or bad vision, genetics.
The only side-effect I now have is that when I wake up in the morning my eyes are very dry and I need to put eye drops in. The rest of the day they're completely fine.
I would definitely recommend getting it done, one of the best decisions I ever made. |

| I heard that there is something wrong with night vision when you have it done....like you can't drive at night no more (indicated on your driver license) ??? |

yeah my bf has that issue...he got the procedure done at LasikMD almost 2 years ago and he has trouble seeing at night
like he sees bright color rings around lights...he says its annoying when driving, but in the day he sees perfectly
I should also mention that he had some special procedure done that cost like 5000$ cuz his vision was like -7 or -8 in both eyes...
I want to get it done myself but I cant yet cuz my prescription isnt stable |

My little sister (who had horrendous eye sight) travelled to Toronto (cheaper in Canada and we live only about 1 1/2 hours away). She got hers done for $800 an eye, walked outta there the same day, and sees perfectly now (now glasses/contacts).
She said it was the best decision of her life. I would consult the doctor for risks tho :)
*No problems with night vision for her. SHe has been driving for 4 years after the procedure, at night. * |

| At first I had the halos around lights at night, but it's subsided a lot over the years. Now I think my night vision is the same as it was before, although it's been 7 years so I'm not positive... |
