Wow! No other word derscribes it.
Ive made it home from the most woeful event i ever paid money for. The sydney leg of adventjah and the word dissapointment does not even begin to describe that night. I should have known at the door i was in for trouble when asked if i was there for the dance party or to play pool. So who played i hear you ask, well according to the flyers pete wardman, agnelli and nelson and dave lea. Who actually played? None of the above! They arrived to this fight and saw the 50 people in attendence and refused. Yes thats right they sat down and refused to play, drank a beer and left. The place was a bar and i wish i had known better. I don't totally hold it against the dj's if you came all the way from the uk to a pub named after a pissy shark in a tank surrounded by pool tables you could understandably be tense. Wow thats done the sydney clubbing scene great good in the uk. I hope people from sydney never want to see any of them again, we'd need a gun to get them back on a plane. On the other hand i payed money to see agnelli and nelson, did they have a responsibilty to play a few tracks after all i came to see them. I actually went down to say hello while they were enjoying the shark and a beer and was promptly told to off! Nice! Angry dj's, not good for a chat. I somehow still have a soft spot for them but it tarnished them a bit for me. As for powerhouse now called house productions take a bow! No lineup times for the rooms as they knew the internationals had refused to play. We tracked the owner down and he apologised to us but well that didn't quite cut it. For some reason he wasn't willing to pay us the $300 it cost to get in. Surprise. If they knew that all tickets had been sold they should have just cancelled it rather than ruin, repeat ruin their professional reputation hopefully for ever. Since we payed $50 the 6 of us had a competiton to see who could stay the longest with the 6 other people there in the shark bar lounge room and dance up a storm on the carpet. We lasted till 5 but that was testament to a personal resolve i didn't know i possessed. The house owner even lied to our face that agnelli had played for half an hour at 11 but we got there at 11 and unless they had reconstructive surgery and lost weight that was a ing plain lie. They must have looked at the place when getting a replacement for sega world. The 2 rooms sound even merged as 1 bar split the two that was totally open and the sound of drum and bass over trance was quite remarkable, maybe we have a winner there, drum and trance! I'll get an email off to house productions and see if they can market that to the world! I actually had a disposable camera with a panoramic feature and managed to take photo's on extra wide setting and get not one person except the dj in shot! Where can i post that photo! Well thanks for letting me air this disgrace, sorry if it didn't make you laugh. I tend to think no other ta's were at this event or i may seen something about it by now. I purposely didn't write this yesterday as ever second word out of my mouth was a rude word that doesn't appeal to everyone.
Love to all
Simon
P.s im in negoitiations to get agnelli and nelson back out to play in my loungeroom. I've promised to turn on both lava lamps and shine my torch with red sticky tape on it around at random intervals. That would equal house productions decoration efforts. Im close to getting agnelli's to agree. Maybe free lemonade will do it!
Pps I read sydneys three d world when i got home and agnelli and nelson were asked what to expect when they played at adventjah. Their reply was- expect the unexpected. They got me!

ing hell, that is seriously rank man. :-/
If I were you I'd track down the people responsible for the night and report them to a consumer watch-dog for false advertising: if they advertised those dj's and they didn't play, then they broke the contract created when you bought your ticket by not delivering what they promised, and so owe you at least your cash back. Probably won't make up for the painful memories, or the damage it's done to the Sydney club scene, but it's a start.
So yeah, sounds like a bad experience dude. Might be time to move down to Melbourne eh. :) |

bad organisation and BAD DJS...
they did have a ing obligation to play - thats what they were payed for and if they were professionals they bloody well would have got up there and spun - crowd or no crowd
sean quinn came to perth not so long ago - one of the best prog djs in aust at the moment... they stuck him on at 9pm and there was NO ONE on the dance floor and barely 30 ppl in the whole venue, but he was still up there spinning and he laid a BLOODY GOOD SET down too -
thats PROFFESIONALISM... something the above mentioned djs obviously lack... get over yourselfs... egotistic pricks...
and the organisers should cop a walloping for their efforts too - if ANY of the dj's didnt spin then they should have offered you some form of compensation... when mario piu didnt show for slinky last year, everyone present was given tickets to the warp brothers the next week aswell as free drinks... thats how an event should be run and thats what should happen if something s up
i dont feel so bad living in Perth now
 |

Hey stipsy
Sadly he did. Pity all i was going to do was say how much i liked his cd. That must be an indication of how shat off he was. He then made jokes with his his circle of blow poney dj friends such as mark dynamix and fenix that he often got mistaken for robbie williams. We had the last laugh on fenix though when he played half an hour of what could best be described as chipmunks on heat. We asked where the chipmunks came from but there was no answer surprisingly. And yes if my job permitted id be in melbourne in a second! And then the hawks went and lost on me as well. Great weekend!:D |
