Star Wars - Force Unleashed

the next-gen version of choking or grabbing or lightning-ing isnt enough to get me "wet".

The control of force powers was nowhere near what it appears to be in the videos in Jedi Knight or Jedi Knight 2, and if you think it is you're even more ing crackers than I had previously thought.

The interactive physics you pan so quickly has also never appeared in any game prior (preparing myself for the hilariously inevitable "but it was in Half Life 2" response). Add to that the fact that any Star Wars fan would find the story more compelling than any other addition to the Star Wars universe in the past few years, and all I see is you talking just to talk and drawing comparisons that couldn't be less apt.

Your criticisms here are paper thin - but feel free to keep trying. It reminds me a bit of like when a child on the playground tries to tell you something sucks because their dad told them so. That just doesn't go so well when your father is an idiot. ;)
sleepydragon
crap that its console only.
If its a sucess i cant see why they wouldnt bring it out for the pc a year later or something
biznology
?

the same ideas, just slightly different implementation...right?

(going from JKII to FU, lol)

and everyone should likely wait until this actual comes out to totally freak over the 'awesomeness' of this game.

it may be tech'ly advanced, but the physics engine IS the same as HL2 as well as many others, and the rag doll physics are the same as GT4 as well as other games. its how it all gets put together that counts. Dark Knight and Jedi Knight weren't the most technologically advanced games even at their times of release, but they had some sort of soul to them and tech demos cannot relate that, you need to play them and be compelled. and if no one has played Force yet, you can be excited, but cant start calling everyone stupid|

(and a hyped up SW game is nothing new, there have been more disappointments than successes)

but why am i responding to an rjt post anyways, i know better

The only thing I think is stupid is the claim that it's "the same physics engine as HL2" (one of them is), and writing something off as something it clearly isn't (how any of the videos above constitute garden variety "rag doll" physics escapes me - rag doll physics don't respond in any way other than as rag dolls. They certainly don't interact with their environment in any meaningful way other than "plop").

Oversimplification of something isn't criticism - that's why it's called oversimplification.

Who has said otherwise? I didn't realize continually stating the obvious was absolutely necessary here.

Obviously you don't. And my guess is that you respond because regardless of how much you say you loathe me, you appreciate my responses here more than the vast majority of other peoples.

i already stated that the physics were "more interactive". obviously this is much more sophisticated. but its hardly revolutionary. you could still choke and lightning and grab items etc in JK. yes, this engine is certainly more powerful, but its also 6 years newer.

i dont particularly rate HL2 so you can take that straw man argument and stick it with your ty taste in music.

hardly notable given the thats come from lucasarts of late. the fact that you havent played the game and youre already making arbitrary statements regarding the storyline is a bit of a stretch.

oh bollocks, im not "criticising" . i just dont see how people are labelling it as "gonna be the best game ever". the physics are nice but the clips you posted did not inspire me.

also, 3rd person games are . designed for ty gaming systems with ty engines and played by people :toothless

The storyline is well known and there are plenty of spoiler videos out there on which I can base my opinion. Perhaps you need to check the definition of the word arbitrary before batting it about as carelessly as you have here.

Funny - I don't see anyone doing that. I found the videos exciting, sorry you don't. Saying it has potential based on dozens of videos (many of them gameplay videos) doesn't mean I'm saying it will undoubtedly be the greatest game of all time.

fair, but again you do really need to sit down with a title to really appreciate its worth (or not).

my mistake, i swear i saw it written, i just assumed it was in this thread. and yes, the title certainly has promise! but as an evolution of what we've seen before, not anything more than that.

hahaha. no more bitter than you are when you write about aspects of games that you dislike. never been a fan of 3rd person in an action title, though things like lightsaber fighting is better in 3rd person.

The thing is, if you get excited about something that's not out yet, you're a "fanboy gimp basing your opinion on hype", but if you criticize something mindlessly you're just an "elitist hater."

You're damned if you do, damned if you don't - at the very least I like to think when I criticize aspects of gaming I don't like I either:

A. Have a fair number of examples of reasons for not liking something (i.e. the absolutely massive number of bog-standard FPS games people seem to like solely because they're FPS).

B. Up front about just not taking to a specific style of game (for me, RTS - I try, but I get incredibly bored).

In the event of A, at least you've thought about why it is you don't like something. In the event of B, everyone knows your opinion is irrelevant because you're judgment is never going to be based on somethings own merits - you're just going to think it's regardless of whether or not good reason for that exists.

Either way, I'm happy at least trying to remain consistent and discussing all things I enjoy (music, games, etc.) without compromising my own standards.

everyone and anyone who can't at least appreciate that, regardless of whether or not they ever agree with me on anything else at all. ;)
