2.9.2007 - Smith & Selway @ Spy Bar
Christian Smith & John Selway began their collaboration in the early 90's after meeting at a rave in Washington, DC. Starting with a remix for Deep Dish's Yooshi label and a few other unreleased projects, it wasn't until the late '90s when they fully hit their stride and began their rise to prominence in the techno world. In 1997, releases on Rotation, Primate and Tronic placed them firmly on the global techno map as a powerful production team with a unique style. They have remixed multiple artists such as Slam, Adam Beyer, Speedy J, Danny Tenaglia, and even legendary rock band Queen. An open minded approach to dance music has allowed them to progress successfully with busy individual DJ careers and demand for their productions.
You do not want to miss this appearance from two of the biggest names in the techno world as they make their Spy Bar debut!

With a DJ career spanning 15 plus years, Chris Fortier has continually been a crowd favorite, confirmed by his very first residency at the legendary “Aahz” in Orlando through to more recent residencies at The Cross in London and at Twilo in New York. Since a debut European tour in 1997, Chris has gone on to consistently tour the globe behind numerous singles, remixes and no less than 7 mix albums. You can catch him as easily in Tokyo as in Buenos Aires and all points in between on any given weekend.
It is artists such as Chris Fortier, who are inextricably linked to the underground dance music scene, that are the genuinely pushing the sound forward. Chris’ determination to continue to push the envelope can be seen in all aspects of his career. Proof of this can be found on his recent triple CD compilation Balance and his recent solo production under the 40oz moniker.

Once in a blue moon there comes along a prodigy that is noticed by the big guns and whose talent catapults them onto the world stage. Something of a child prodigy from a famous scientist father, Steve’s first love was discovering electronic sounds at 16 years old. From Boston to New York, Steve Porter has evolved from record store clerk, mobile DJ to New England rave DJ to landing on the roster at one of the most prestigious booking agencies in the world.
Steve’s sound is known to his fans as “Porterhouse,” an eclectic range of funked-up house beats with a techy-edge and twisted jams induced by his own re-edits and mixes that mold his DJ sets.
