Dublin here I come too!!

Hey people,

Actually this is a time when I need the help of this community, this year from August to December I will be living in Dublin. In that time I will be studying at the Tallaght University. All very nice(actually really looking forward to it!) and all but there's another thing. Here in The Netherlands I've been dj'ing for over 6 years now, I work in a club nearby, have a lot of experience although i'm only 21 years old and I'm busy trying to get some productions on the road. But this is not my priority, I see producing as something inevitable in order to progress in my dj 'career', but this is not my goal, I don't want a 'career' I deliberately made the choice to give my study priority in my life and therefore I am realistic enough to see that this means no big jump as a DJ. Then there is another problem, without being cocky I can now say I have potential, I have some weak points but a lot of strong one's and what makes me special as a DJ is that I 'master' a lot of genre's. And I don't mean a mix of different genres throughout my set but I can make full worthy trance sets, hard trance sets, even hardstyle or hardcore but these don't have my preference. Trance is what got me into the 'EDM' in 1999 and I still get high on this music but there is so much more music that is amazing. At the moment if I would have to describe my 'style' I would say it's an always energetic mix of electro house, "neo-trance", minimal techno, filthy house music and a bit of techno here and there. Without any problems I can also play a progressive trance set or fill a night with steamin' house music...

This might al seem a bit as a marketing talk but I know what I can but the problem is that here where I live (the east of The Netherlands) there is no crowd for intelligent 'EDM' whatsoever. I try my best but the only way to play for a crowd of over 500 people here is to mix your flavour with either poppy r&b sounds or hardstyle.

So my point after this (probably a bit to long if you're just scanning the site for interesting news, sorry for that;) )story is that I want to make the move from a comprimising resident to a free autonomic Dj. I know that the scene is not the same in Dublin as it would be in for instance Amsterdam but I do think I have something to add over there...

I'm not in it for the money, not for any 'fame' or respect, the thing I do best and love to do is rock a crowd, entertain people, whilst entertaining myself by just listening to the music, how hedonistic is that, but it's that kind of society and as it comes to music; I love it. There is not better thing, that causes no damage to any third party, which is free and always available for everyone then losing yourself in the music, on the dancefloor, forgetting everyting and just take the ride...

I know that's why you (almost) all registered at this website, just like I did years ago. Therefore I hope to receive any useful information on how to find a good venue, club, party or other Dj's with the same wavelength just to get things started..

Thanks a lot already, maybe I'll catch you this fall..!!:D

if you want to break in, get acquainted with a few of the major promoters here. the biggest (i think) is Letrik (www.letrik.ie). there are a few others that promote gigs. the best place for trance gigs is a place called The Vaults under Connolly train station. normally thats where the big names are (unless theres something on in tripod, the bigger club). i don't know a big list of promoters but check who posts in the listing section on www.irishclubbing.net
