| Unfortunately bkk's 2am curfew throws off most big internationals, and with Astra closing things arent looking good for thai trance/tech scene.......prime setting for some thai tranceaddict to spruce up the scene? |

I'm in Sukhumvit Soi 22... I was staying in Soi 4 for a month, just a short walk down from the infamous Nana "Enterntainment" Plaza ;)... but I found myself needing to withdraw 20000 baht every week, much of it going to "entertainment". Things are a bit tamer in Soi 22 and my expenses are now a bit more under control. Soi Cowboy is close by but at least it's not on the way to and from my place like in Soi 4.
You'd probably agree though that the really nice girls are outside Sukhumvit... I've been around other areas e.g. Lad Prao and noticed the big difference in the kind of people. Sukhumvit is a bit of a foreigner/tourist/sleaze town... there are lots of "bad" girls here :).
BTW what do you think of the univeristy uniforms? The students like to wear them ultra-tight. I sure don't mind.
Yeah I went to Ferry Corsten at Narcissus, it was by far the best night I've had in Bangkok. I've been here since 28 December 2006.
I went to a few other trance events, e.g. Kyau & Albert on 30 December 2006 at Astra, and Brian Cross Amnesia tour the week before Ferry.
There are a few things around trance-wise, though I still haven't explored it all yet. There's Lucifer Disko at Patpong on Thursdays, and Narcissus at Sukhumvit Soi 18 on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and The Club on Khao San Road. Occasionally trance events are held at Astra at RCA, but I hear they are moving soon.
Have you been to RCA? It's one of the nightclub places populated by the young Thai crowd. I've been intending to go to Route66 at RCA some time. It's an R&B/hip hop place but it's not the music that I'm interested in :). I felt like I blew a fuse in my head the first time I was at RCA when I saw the crowd from Route66 spill out at the end of the night, it was quite an overwhelming sight.
Yeah the Bangkok curfew sucks, but when Ferry was here he played up to 3:30am, so it was a 3.5h set. People have told me that some events with big-name internationals in the past finished up at 4am.
I might stay in Bangkok for a couple more months, though I'm looking into investing in some businesses here with some friends I know here so I may have to end up staying longer and either shorten or even skip my 6-month trip to Tokyo.
Send me a private message and we can talk over email and meet up while you're still in Bangkok if you'd like. |
