Ah, not its not. its a comparison between 2 dvd formats. it just happens that the Ps3 and 360 were used for the comparison. This is really getting out of hand. Every time the Demon posts something you guys keep trying to post him as a fanboy and give him a hard time. Now Iam not here to continously defend him, Iam sure he can hold his own, but I dont think its fair and just because he posts something you cant always label him as a fanboy. I did recall him saying he is the owner of both systems. You're taking this a bit too personal bud and going off topic. Either way, Hd dvd as a format no matter what device its on is currently outselling and outperforming Blu-ray. Ps3 and 360 are ecomonic alternatives to stand alone players. Also, ps3 and 360 are not just game machines, they're all around entertainment machines that have multiple functionalities. |

those who say they are more intested in content than picture quality - why did you make the swap from vhs to dvd? was it only once the catalogue in the local rental store tipped in favour, or did you see the quality before that?
I see the step from dvd to HD-dvd or blu-ray as a far smaller step than that from vhs to dvd, and certainly not one I am prepared to pay for at current prices. Given it's a battle now to make critical uptakes, the prices have to fall very quickly.
We only get free to air in HD, and then only certain programs really show much improvement, but in some, mostly nature documentaries I have to say, you can really get caught in the quality of the picture.
Even more so in audio, you can get caught listening to the notes and sounds as much as the music overall.
then again for most people, audio is going the opposite direction - quantity and convenience over audio quality.
When looking at audio upgrades, there's plenty of minor updates I could make that may make some improvements but most people find they only ever upgrade in very large steps. I think this will be the same, you are going to need major and obvious quality improvements to convince people to spend that money. And I doubt the difference bewtween the two formats is going to be enough to decide that war, it's only going to come down to marketing and content.
I wouldn't go quite as far as Kidnyce as to say I cannot watch non-hd programming, but I certainly appreciate it when it's there. |

bollocks. its a comparison of the PS3's blu-ray versus the X360's HD DVD. you cant escape that fact.

hahahahahahahahaha. whatever you reckon man. the profits come from the games. without being a games machine first and foremost these consoles are worthless to the companies that made them. but keep touting them like theyre something really special, and ill keep spending cash on real gaming systems and real entertainment units, and then you can go sell your console/entertainment system/storage device/toaster next time the next overpriced piece of is forced on the ignorant consumer. |

Hd dvd and blu ray offer up to 6 times the picture quality. also considering that they have a larger storage capacity and higher sound encoding that can be put on them, they also feature mulple special features without compramising the picture quality. which is the true thing. dvd still needed way too much compression where as blu ray and hd dvd compramise picture quality by less than 5%. |

those who don't see the benefits of higher image quality, its obvious that you never watched tv in HD.
When you go HD you don't go back
DVD films on y 55" look blocky and blurry, thus the need of HDDVD.
As for formats, i believe the HDDVD win just because it cost less to manufacture. |

This thread really irritates me.
Every time I see there is a new post in the Gaming forum, I get excited.
Then I come in here and see it's only someone else posting in this thread, and I think to myself:
"None of this has a god damn thing to do with gaming. Why do we even have a technology forum if people aren't going to use it?"
:conf: :( :conf: |

Yes, it is. But its in the form of dvd players, not gaming machines, which is something you completely missed. the article has nothing to with which systme is better as a game machine, the guy even states that he is comopletely impartial. You really need to look at the article again.

He can be, even though he owns both systems. He might currently favour one a bit more than the other, but oponions change. and even if he was so what, he has the right to his own oponion. he is also taking the liberty to reduce his "Fanboy" attitude. I don't see as many as anti ps3 threads that he used to put up. By the way, do you own a ps3 or 360?

So if you're tired of this nonsense why contribute to it? why did you even read the thread if you knew it was nonsense? why did you post what you did? this thread is not pointless. if it is, then prove it.

Eeverybody knew that the Ps3 and 360 where going to support many things. games, movies, digital media and so forth. yes the main profits is games. but sony is banking big time on the blu ray technology that ps3 supports. blu ray is not restricted to just gaming. In my oponion you missed the whole point of the article. |
